Maybe I'm just grumpy because I haven't skied in a week but SL's website is pissing me off. I clicked on the "Trails and Lifts" link and it hasn't been updated since Apr.30th and showed everything as closed. I clicked on the "current condition" map and it was last updated Apr.29th. I would think most people would like to know whats open before a long drive up there.

There's a lot of discussion of this on the Sugarloaf board and it seems it's a combination of Boyne being hosed by ASC and little bit of incompetence on the administrators at Sugarloaf. Sunday River had similar problems, but they seem to be being a little more creative than the folks at Sugarloaf. Check out Sugarloaftoday.com and K2Trav.com for info. Both unofficial SL sites.

Steve Kircher President of Boyne doesn't understand the importance of the internet, he doesn't understand that people use the internet to plan there vacations. Its not like the internet is a fad that will be gone tomorrow.

I think that's pretty harsh, as he seems to be willing to engage with the boards and keep people informed. But yea, If I were in his shoes I'd be knocking some heads around in the web dev department. At the very least they should take the whole thing down and just put up a page that says they are open and give an accurate daily trail report with a note that a new site is coming soon and to make a call for reservations. That would be much better than a site that looks like it hasn't been updated since the spring.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one bringing it up. How are they being hosed by ASC? I thought ASC was completely out of the picture now. Sugarloaf should just link to K2Trav's site. I found more info on there. Cool site, don't know why I never checked it out before.

I think there were trouble figuring out how to access the server it was on and who actually owned and administrated the server.

Oh my Gollee, gee whiz. Lead me to a fainting couch and bring me my smelling salts, there is info on the web that is neither true nor up to date?????? NO I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!! WAYYYYYYYYYY THE WEB IS ALWays truUE

snicker

OMG I'm gonna present myself as being soooooo pissed that what I read on the Internet ( 2 days ago, 4 hours before I left home with my wife and 4 kids plus 3 kids of our friends ) isn't true on our arrival, I'll go postal on the first person I see.

HMMMMMMM ??? hmmmmmmm

Nothing new here for either SR or SL. Both are having issues migrating their web services
interface with Boyne systems. Its been ongoing for WEEKS and it is not over yet.

Wildcat is having some of the same issues with server migrations, new web camera installs and system overwrites pushed/pulled from MWOBS,

Cut yourself a break and use a telephone if you need an immediate answer. That cell phone in your pocket.... it is yours. Use it.

No need to patronize pal

Not everyone is privy to the server interface whatever you want to call it that is limiting the information on their websites. Perhaps a simple message on their website regarding the difficulties they are experiencing is warranted.

And you are entitled to your opinion as well and I suppose you are entitled to expressing such an opinion with a condescending attitude as well.

Mildcat is right to be annoyed. This is the twenty-first century. Web based information is a top priority and companies that do not keep their web sites up to date will alienate and piss off their customers. It is the responsibility of businesses to keep their web sites up to date and to keep their customers informed in a convenient manner. I hate using the phone and get annoyed when web based information is not up to date or accurate. This is not a "server" issue but rather a customer service issue. The sooner businesses realize this simple fact the better as it can also be a customer retention issue as well. It is only going to get more important as each successive generation is going to be more connected through the web for information.

I guess its a good thing I didn't post my complete feelings on the subject

Just curious. I know you mentioned that they tried to get you to take your site down. Was that just ASC or has Boyne made that attempt too? Because you seem more pissed off than just being annoyed at their web incompetence would lead someone to be.

It was just Sugarloaf, ASC didnt have anything to do with it. I wouldn't say Im pissed, more just really annoyed by some members of management. Its way to hard to explain in a way someone else would understand.

I hope you didn't take it the wrong way when I said Sugarloaf should link to your site. I didn't realize there were problems between you and some of the management at SL. I said that tongue in cheek because your site had more info.

As to anyone (Breeze) who wants to flame me for this Post, I don't care. I love Sugarloaf, it's one of my favorite resorts. I like Sunday River a lot and Praise both resorts. I bought a pass this year and I'll buy again next year. So if you think I'm knocking Boyne for this you are wrong. So go bark up another tree.

He is one of the Few people that has taken a direct approach here and on other sites and has tried to keep us informed. Don't you think if they could have a quick fix they would have done it? Having web problems really does not mean they don't get its importance. One way or another the word got out about the River. K2Trav ...I read you site and appreciate the info. I don't agree with your statement though.
