there are 2 that i know of, neither of which i've skied due to, SHOCK, lack of snow.

Loafer89, who only posts in the winter, has skied the bigger of the two top to bottom and i believe Greg went in there last year at some point but said it wasnt ready yet. anyway, maybe they'll chime in and give you more info.

I'd tell you where they are but i dont want to be lynched. seriously, even at sundown i guess its show dont tell. kinda silly if you ask me.

There are woods, they are rarely skiable in my experience. I've skied the two main 'stashes' that I know about. The bigger of the two was definitely not ready, despite that I skied it in the middle of a pretty sizable storm (for CT). It may have been better the next day, I don't know. The other was after a storm with a good amount of snow and was skiable, but maybe not so much after 3 of us went through...

There are two well-known areas that I know with a few other options that I've scoped out while hiking. Your timing needs to be right since they're rarely skiable.

I wouldn't dare tell you specifically where they are here for fear of being lynched liked 2knees says. I'm there a lot though so if the snow is good, I'd be happy to show you sometime. Quite honeslty, unless there is deep powder and a base underneath, the bumps are usually more fun.

Plenty of snow falling that day, just no base. Had there been a nice 3" sleet base, that would have been fun. Instead it turned out to be core shot city.

There's a few brief seconds from that run in this vid:

I realize pictures never quite capture things... That looks very flat. Is it like Squeeze Play on Killington's Rams Head? If so, it shouldn't take all that much base to get it going.

The top one is pretty decently pitched in spots. Certainly not steep. It's rather long (by Sundown standards) and like I said could be a lot of fun if the base is there. The one in the bottom three pics shot with a cell phone is not really steep, but steep enough for some momentum. It's also a pretty short shot. Like I siad, I'd rather ski the bumps unless it's some rare 12-18" powder day or something.

Oh BTW, I should mention that skiing the woods at Sundown is strictly OB and you risk getting a pass pulled. So either stay out or don't get caught.

The first rule of thin cover is to use your brother's worst rock skis. ;)

So who is wearing what in that video clip?

It is relatively flat, though it is steeper than it looks. Remember this is CT, we take what we can get. ;) It wouldn't take too much base to make it skiable if it was cleared out, which (for the most part) it isn't. Well, the shorter shot isn't, but the other is somewhat cleared out. Also keep in mind that we don't get a whole lot of natural down here. Much of what we do get melts before the next storm rolls through. The woods down here are really more of a novelty IMHO.

but the first stretch we get when it is skiable will call for mandatory attendance! :snow:

Yeah, I went in with Greg and B when there def. wasn't enough snow.

Got some good "structure" into B's new skis' bases though. Rock style.
