Yeah, I went in with Greg and B when there def. wasn't enough snow.

Got some good "structure" into B's new skis' bases though. Rock style.

Those skis are still sporting that "structure" (all the way to the core).

And so flat it's almost uphill. And I'd put that drop at way higher than 6'.

It's a good sized drop for sure. I know of people who have skied it, but supposedly the conditions have to be just right and you have to hit it just right AND be prepared to turn very soon after landing.

Does Sundown allow skiing on off-map areas?

None at all.

The so-called Area 51, will be no longer , after this season. New trails are scheduled to be cut there! (starting in the spring of 09)

I know the area was surveyed this summer, but I haven't heard anything definitive yet in terms of trail cutting and/or number/type of runs...

It's my understanding that it's their desire to break ground this spring, but nothing definite yet. It depends on a lot of factors. One way to help is for people to give the mighty Sundown their business this year. If they have a good year, proceeding with an expansion is more likely. I hope to be able to take a peak at the plan in the coming weeks. Think cold!

Are you planning your mission as we speak?

Obviously, i would love to see them cut a narrow run which could be a treated as their dedicated bump run. I'm assuming the pitch over there is similar to gunbarrel.

Random question. I know how Sundown feels about earning turns. But are they cool with people hiking the mountain in the off season? I know Greg and Brian have hiked it, the wife and I have done it as well. I want to go up and get my season pass pic taken. I would like to bring the fam and go for a little exploratory hike.

It's private property. So I would say that you might get asked to leave. I've never had a problem...

Earn your Turns

Are they cool with you earning your turns if you have a pass or ticket and just want to get some training in?

I'd like to do the Life-Link race at Madriver/Sugarbush this season and I need a local place to practice.

Do you know if Sundown got their broken chair fixed too?
