Have a rare Saturday off and obviously going to take advantage. Thinking this storm might jackpot Stratton/Mt Snow if things stay the same. If Stratton gets over 12" do their low angle woods come into play? I know they don't officially open/close their glades so I feel like that might be the place to be.

If it trends north a bit maybe Killington comes into play with some of the Needles stuff potentially opening on natural.

Sunday River calling for 10 - 14 inches, and probably more open and less crowded.

That much snow on a Saturday, I’m not sure SR will be any less crowded than Stratton/Killington, but it certainly won’t be worse. It’d come down to drive times this early in the season, I’d think.

YES go to SR.
We'll get more snow at WC and have way less people :)
and we have Comps for SR... Saving them for later in Feb/March

Doubtful, it's looking like a Northern Runner ie Maine will get wacked far more than VT.

At K Needles won't open on natural but all the low angle stuff off the already open pods could.

Not the lift but I've seen them open up Panic/Needles/Dreammaker/Vertigo down to Snowshed Crossover in December with enough natural. Actually a really fun vibe back there with no lifts running.

I guess I'll play it by ear though. I'm not sure SR would get better enough than Stratton or K to justify an extra 1.5 hrs each way to get there. But if that ends up being the case I'd never say never.

yeah even 15" not enough to put stratton trees in play. they did work over the summer cleaning some of them up but they are more 70's era pornstar not modern day pornstar.

since stratton is unbelievably slow in opening new terrain it could be a good poaching weekend.

Already at Sunday River. I expect some nice expansion for Saturday, my guess is tomorrow. Hoping we get Aurora. North Peak looks like that may be in the mix too. Traditionally this weekend is quiet, but Iam sure we will have a decent crowd.

I cant ski till Monday and my skis are sitting in the shop getting tuned at Cannon so here's to hoping Cannon get enough to expand a few trails. Maybe they get in on some of that backside?

Not a Flatton fan but its been 20 + years. . . . but Ikon works there so it's a good opportunity this weekend - here is official elevation report - looks much better than Ellen or K.

As others have said, you need way more than 12-18 to get the trees in play at Stratton. The mountain claims they’ve thinned out the popular tree runs, which will help get them online sooner, but I wouldn‘t go in there until there’s well over 2ft on the ground. Stratton is also teasing a storm for next week. If that delivers on top of this Friday / Saturday - Christmas week could be fun and crowded!!

NWS higher peaks forecast 21" at K (the most southern high peak they have a forecast for) Probably similiar at Stratton. Expect everything open to be groomed friday night at stratton.

Berkshire east probably a good spot sat. and of course Magic if storm delivers. May have to drive up tonight.

About 4 years ago Stratton got a big dump in early December. They opened Upper Standard on 100% natural ungroomed snow on a Saturday and didn’t groom it for days. It was great fun, if rare.

I haven't been to Stratton in a long time. The tree skiing there looks pretty good if everything is open.

It's pretty underrated. Definitely low angle, but its pretty expansive and most Stratton skiers won't leave the groomers so the snow is usually pretty good in the woods. The stuff off URSA is a lot of fun and Test Pilot is another popular one.

NWS point and click has 18-30" at elevation for Stratton. Berkshire East 12-20" but maybe some taint. Killington within a few inches of Stratton.
