People in the base lodge in general are selfish mouthbreathers.

Don't be a rube, find somewhere quiet to sit away from the mess of selfish mouthbreathers

ski areas need to do a better job providing a decent brownbagging area

Never going to happen (brownbagging area).

Why would a ski area actively encourage not spending money on their profit generators?

While it seems counter intuitive, when I visited Waterville Valley, I asked for the brown bagging area, as they had trays everywhere. The woman said we could brownbag anywhere at the Valley, no problems.

Pretty sure you'd be tossed out of Buckets Bones & Brews or T-Bars with a brown bag. They try to reserve the limited seating in those restaurants for those ordering food. I don't fault them for that. At Buckets they're pretty good about letting you order a beer and carry it out to the main lodge area where you can drink it with your bag lunch. Just don't get caught with a personal wobbly pop in your brown bag.

They can stick the brown baggers somewhere away from the cafeteria, a corner room of a basement really.

Brown baggers paradise=loveland. They have a microwave, hot water for soup and grills with utensils and propane at the rock house and the one off of chair two. I used to cook my lunch in the oregon stove in the rock house. Still plenty of people lined up to buy overpriced greasy food. Not everyone wants to be like vail resorts (i hope).

I do remember Vail having an outdoor grill for brown-baggers at the top of Blue Sky Basin in that snack shack--the best spot on the mountain! It was nice of Vail to do this, considering that they are Vail and it does cost $130 to ski (or something like that)

Cannon actually has a pretty large brown bag area but it is in the basement.

Bingo.Almost as large as the cafeteria above as they added on to it a few years back. The basement it where it should be though.I remember many moons ago the bar was in that very same area with 2 small windows like your own basement. The paying customers were in the dungeon and the brownbaggers where upstairs with that great view of the mountain.

I remember seeing that the last time I was out there ('05 maybe). Thought it was a great idea until I realized I'd have to haul everything out to Blue Sky Basin. Did they at least have utensils for folks to use? I only noticed the grill itself.
