Tailgate, will occasionally stop for a slice and a beer if I have time. As DHS said I ski from open to 1-2ish, don't have time to stop. Get food on way back to the house.

For some reason, I always feel compelled to get up there for first chair so, I pack the night before and eat it on the ride back. I try and ski 8:30 (or 8 if I am at SR) until 2:30 - 3 without much of a break. Ski first...food later

In my much younger (and poorer) days, when my wife and I lived out west, we used to pack lunch all the time. We always did something like a bread bowl filled with dip and veggies, cheese and crackers or occasionally some shrimp cocktail (based on a supermarket sale)

We'd typically eat outside at a picnic table on the deck and we were always asked where we got the food. Everyone was always bummed when we said we brought it from home.

Now with kids, it's just too easy to eat at the base lodge. But at least the waitresses at Cuzzins know us by name.

Right where I want to be
I only buy food in the lodge once a month. With 3 boys I would be broke if I didn't. Usually pack lunch. May buy a beer or 3. At some mountains where I can ski to the vehicle I will tailgate it and save even more by bringing my own beer. That also depends on the weather.
