I know you're a kid, but you have at least heard of the 1980 Olympics, right? That's the place.

Doh. Stupid me.

And uh, kid? Unless youre like 50+ or something, I dont think kid would be the right term for someone in High School.

I'm 51 so I guess I'm qualified. I teach high school Kids for a living. I didn't mean it as a put down at all. To me people your age are kids, you so lucky.[/b]

Im in college and i consider most high school kids. Not becasue of their age, but how they act. Powderhound, you are def a kid

Hee Hee...you guys are funny. I'm 47 and probably act more like a kid than most of you. I hope I never grow up!

When we're kids we wish we were adults, once we're adults we spend alot of time and money trying to be kids.

Is there ever a time people are happy with their age? :dunce:

Ages 21-29 were a pretty damn good time.

It's fall in Bretton Woods and that can only mean one thing! Opening day is not too far away!

If Mother nature agrees, Bretton Woods plans to open the alpine ski area during the first week of November! Be sure to check back for the latest information regarding opening day!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Killington, Woodbury, Sunday River, and Bretton all opened on the same day, November 9th, with Okemo opening the 11th and Jiminy the 13th.

killington was indeed first to open last year on the 9th of november. i believe sunday river opened on the 11th. bretton woods was suppose to open with kmart but pushed back their opening date which in my mind, permanently removed bretton woods from the running of first to open, they just are not dedicated to truly challenging killington with a slide back wards like that. i believe woodbury also made the 9th, but they really don't count in my book even though i love to see kmart get "officially" bested by some punk ski area. MSS in canada also opened on the 9th.

here was killington two days after they opened last year. quite a mess of people, but they do put out a good opening product and have absolutely ZERO competition as of yet in regards to opening day quality.

Yeah but I thought Bretton still be SR by a day meaning it would have opened on the 10th- which was a Sunday maybe?

i believe you are right about BW being slotted for the 10th opening last year which did beat SR for what ever that is worth. but considering how much terrain killington covered, for them to have to push back their date with so little coverage and nothing remotely approaching the pitch of rime just says 'no dukes' to me. regardless, the answer to PH's question was a three way tie between kmart, woodbury, and MSS.

I skied there for the first time this past March, but if you are talking about Rosebrook Canyon, yes the glades are worth it. Some are quite steep, if short, and make for interesting skiing.

only heard this second hand, but apparently the new trees at bretton are nice but nothing too outta this world. if you are going somewhere just for the trees, i'd lean a little more towards VT especially with burke right up the road. i would eventually like to try out BW's new trees just to do it, but it will likely take a very localized powder dump to entice me to do so.

probably a good idea to try it on a very windy day after a storm, because they would probably be open when wildcat and cannon arent

my one problem with it is that even if there are a ton of nicely cut glades, that mountain(or should I say hill) is totally flat. When driving by it looks like a giant begginer area
