Have you seen it? What did you think? How was Jaime Pierre's 250ft. huck? I've been waiting all summer to see that.

I was hoping to get some input from the other AZers before I gave my own opinion, but it seems as if the thread is getting hits, but no posts, so here goes.

I was not particularly impressed with this year's edition. I thought Soul Purpose was a much better film and I prefer Matchstick Productions' films.

There were some awesome sessions Sage Catabrigga-Alosa skiing through amazingly deep snow pillows in Japan and Ian McIntosh going postal at Jackson Hole. Chris Collins sticks a triple backflip off a cliff that made be cough soda through my nose.

Jaime Pierre's leap is truly a jaw dropping moment, but only for its sheer stupidity. He skis about 10 feet and hops off a cornice. He falls 250 feet, lands on his head and makes a big crater. People dig him out and he skis off. Frankly, I can't tell why he wore skis at all.

There was no back story, no explanation for Jaime taking such a risky jump, and there was no buildup to the jump. It's like any other scene in the movie. I was surprised the editing was so poor.

Anyway, it's a descent ski movie, but not a standout.

Jeez give us some time to respond

I thought it was pretty good. The Coombs tribute was nice, I liked the Japan segment a lot, and a lot of the skiing they did in Alaska was just sick with all of the spines and stuff. The Marc-Andre Belliveau part was just awesome (part of that was likely the atmosphere at Higher Ground in Burlington since Marc-Andre has been out signing autographs prior to the screening). For ski flicks that I've seen recently I'd put it about on par with "Push". I also liked the soundtrack a lot. Overall grade B+ maybe? Not as good as Tangerine Dream but still well worth the $10 price of admission.

I agree with you on the 250 foot huck. I was pretty curious about it going in because I'd heard the hype, but after seeing it, I feel like I could have watched the movie without the huck and been just as happy. It didn't really add much.

Just saw the showing here at St. Lawrence. Definately not the best movie ever but I thought it was pretty damn good. The tram tribute, Corsica, and Marc Andre segments were my personal favorites.

I will say I was pretty dissapointed with Jeremy Jones' segment. Other than that rediculous run out from an avalanche he didnt really push it I feel like. Ive seen much better from him, but it seemed like the avy conditions at the time of shooting were at fault, not his personal riding.

Loved the Doug Coombs tribute as well, good for them ending the movie that way.

Overall it was well worth the price of admission, but I doubt Im going to go out and buy it.

I've always liked the older films. The Realm and Further in particular. The Nobis segments rip. After falling down a 2000 foot face he's drinking and laughing his ass off...classic.

No. There's a lot of big mountain heli skiing in AK, skiing in Morocco, some park type stuff at Vail I believe. Some great pow lines in Japan, cliffs and pow at Jackson, backcountry kickers here and there. Pretty much everything besides rails and jibbing. Worth watching.
