We'll have dinner here at the house with mominlaw and dad. I cook off all the food a coupla days before T-giving because (a) it always tastes better the next day and (b) the only thing to make on Tgiving day is fresh mashies and deepfrying the brined bird outside with cocktails. I gave up trying to prep the meal the same day, too much stress, too many moving parts, too many wannabe chefs in the kitchen. Unless there's something open in the pokes, skiing is unlikely that weekend.

I think the big question becomes who's got the best snow making and who's going to use it. What I mean by that is that the forecasts that I have seen are now calling for a big push of good cold air for possibly the next two weeks (up to Thanksgiving). How much can some of these places get open in that time? My original thought was to go for Thanksgiving weekend to Bolton Valley due to its elevation, but according to their web site they are not planning to open till Dec 6 so thats out. I'm now thinking Bromley, Stratton, Gore or Whiteface depending on how much they might be able to open. A good enough push of cold air and my home mountain Camelback should be able to open on their projected date of Dec 5. Any thoughts from regulars to the mountains listed above as to what to expect?

Okemo is usually a good bet for Thanksgiving weekend..with 30+ trails open some seasons..as for crowds..I would imagine that Black Friday is pretty empty on the slopes..the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend is a busy day..the Sunday is busy in the morning..I've driven home from Vermont many times the Sunday after Thanksgiving and it's usually wall to wall traffic from Albany NY to NJ..last season I stayed in Vermont until after skiing on Monday which worked out alot better since I got an uncrowded ski day..plus not so much traffic on the way home...I just put in for a vacation day December 1st..my first vacation day since early July..

MLK weekend is the worst day to ski, in my opinion, but then again, I don't really think there is such thing as a bad day to ski, if you can ski.

Anyway, After a multitude of t-day dinners, it's up to SL for the day after t-day and the other 2 days. I hope to round out November with a solid 10 days while Bobr and Geoff will be well into their upper teens! :)

Girlfriend and myself go to Sunday River on Wednesday, I'll get there late morning do some turns and then check into the Cascades Condos, she'll get there later in the afternoon with all of the delicious food stuffs. Go out Wednesday have some pizza have a lot to drink, get up early to ski Thanksgiving morning. Call it quits around 1 - 1:30 to start cooking the turkey, eat, watch football.

This year we are having:

Turkey (Baked w.stuffing)
2 Chicken Lobsters
Mashed Potatoes (sour cream and scallion)
Asparagus
Boiled White Onions
White Chocolate Bread Pudding (Like we need it by then)

Original plan: Mount Snow - Wednesday through Sunday
Revised Plan: TBD - the Mrs. had some unexpected emergency surgery. Not sure if she's up to the trip (she probably won't be cleared to ski until January or February. She is not happy about that fact).

We might just be over-eating in CT.

V, if you need me to, I'd be glad to make sure that your beertender is working! ;)

Hope B is doing fine. If she is off skis until mid-season, well atleast we could have a designated seat getter in Cuzzins ;)

worst day of the year to ski. bar none.

That was one of my all time top five days skiing. Lot's of open trails and empty lifts at Belleayre in 2005.

Of course all I was thinking about was making sure that you'd have a no-skunky beer coming out of the beertender!
