Was watching Rudolph the other night and started thinking...
There should be a mountain of misfit ski/board stuff... Like those things people put on tips to keep them from crossing.. Or the soft boot bindings with the pole attached to the thigh... Or baseless snowboard bindings.. Or any other attempt to make a binding more then just something that attaches your boot to the deck..
stuff like that...

I think some of the ski museums actually have a collection of that stuff. But I also understand they have so much trash like that they have no room to display it, it sits in storage!

Mountains of Misfit Ski Lifts, too

Hmm ... not to hijack the thread, but, thinking bigger, what about ski lifts and mountain layouts that are "misfits"? Primarily those that are too slow or underpowered for the number of skiers they're intended to serve. But there are also high speed detachables on short runs where they're not really needed. And layouts that funnel too many skiers into one collector run or feeder lift.

As much as I enjoy the base lodge and much of the terrain at Massanutten here in Virginia, for example, the layout and lifts can be frustrating on crowded weekends.

I saw a guy at Campgaw a couple of years ago wearing 2 different skis of different lengths but he was a really good skier. I think he was trying to be funny.
