By the way, Crapuweather had this rain and thaw nailed on the money for X-mas weekend two weeks ago in their long range forecast.

Hopefully this is the January thaw comming early.

Rain

here in Stowe. Ended with some brief but heavy snow squalls. I have an inch of fluff on a very firm, heavy base of about 8 inches. No pricip right now, I imagine they could have up to 5-6 new by morning on the hill, but it will likely be dust on crust.

fog, fog, fog and 33 near the can boarder. probably lost about half the snow in the yard, got excited late last night as some snow flakes were mixing in by it didn't materialize and I think it has been drizzling all night. haven't skied in two days so i'm not sure how jay was effected. they have a ton more snow there and probably didn't lose as much, still reporting just as much terrain open (that doesn't always mean much though). the good thing is that we should finally have a nice solid base, and a winter storm warning is in effect for later today and tonight. calling for 10"-15" by tomarrow morning with the chance of more up top. this storm could really make or break the holiday week, if we get the new snow things should be back to where they were before, if not, it could be crust city.

Welcome to the forum, Meat. Your report would be a bit more helpful if we knew where your from.
If you need specifics I'm from the Troy area 10 mi SW of Jay and 10 mi from canada. The latest isn't looking too good, and you need to be wary of the jay report. just got off the web site and it was reporting heavy snow. let me tell you that it snowed heavily for maybe 10 mins at the hill today and hasn't done nothing but flurry since. as of 8:30pm their was about 1/2" new at the base. I also heard el presidente Stenger say that the latest forcast was more like 4"-6" with a chance of double that. It did start snowing a little harder on my way home, but doesn't look like were going to get 1-2 feet by morning, but who knows. there still is most of the base snow left and it is now a concrete block and any new snow would be a great help to any of the flatlanders who drove hours to get here and were expecting big pow. I guess we'll have to see what the morning brings.

The wet stuff really does suck, and it only snowed a couple inches last night, it really is dust on crust. Their is still a nice snow pack at Jay though and after a good dump or two things will be right back on track. It looks like some interesting weather with Ice and maybe a little plain old rain on thursday, but then it is going to cool down (I hope)and get some white stuff. Unless you have no other time to ski or if this forcast changes I wouldn't ski at all this week, especially if you have to drive far and pay big $, snow isn't that great (at all) and the people are moving in herds. Saw that sugarloaf got a nice dump, but I don't know about their base

I have been reading on the Sugarloaf chat that they got alot less than the 6" of snow that they are reporting, but at least they got some snow out of the storm.

I do not think that I will get up to Sugarloaf this year as they are asking $350.00 a night for a condo on Presidents week and their lodging all around has just gotten too expensive for me. I found cheap lodging in Rutland for that week, so I will be skiing at Killington/Pico/Mount Snow.

The weather for this week looks bad for New England with rain for most areas and about .50 - .75" of rain expected for thursday.

Roemer Weather Report

DR. WEATHER----12/28/05
Weather Trends Ahead…

The weather for the foreseeable future is a wet and marginally mild one, toward the end of the work week, tailing off with some minor snow shower activity Friday. The active weather pattern will feature a Pacific storm every 2 to 3 days going into next week. Temperatures at this point look to be progressively colder, by just a bit into the first week of January with a potential Nor’easter along about the 3rd. Mother Nature has a habit of balancing things so don’t be surprised to be surprised!
