An email I got from them today

Stats for Tuesday:
Trails: 80 (!!!) Lifts: 14
Miles: 32 Acres: 390
Conditions: Packed Powder/Powder/MG
FYI: 4-6" of snow today with more on the way!
Wknd Proj: Up to 90 trails including White Heat

It's been snowing like crazy here since the crack
of first chair and it's not letting up anytime
soon. With 4-6" falling today, there was a lot of
woo-hooing going on, and it's going to keep on
falling tonight to the tune of 10+ inches total.
Think thick, fabulous corduroy and trailside powder
shots, not to mention a trail count explosion.

The Patrol is pretty confident that they'll get
at least 9 more trails open first thing with
another 8 soon to follow. I'm not even going to
go into what'll open if we max out the forecast
totals. I see myself demoing some fatter skis
tomorrow and playing around on Upper Cut, and I
have just two words for you, Rogue Angel: Watch out.

A lot of folks here today are pretty glad that
today was already part of a long weekend. Why not
make it longer? We've got Ski Free packages from
$65 and VIP lodging rates for All For One
passholders from just $30 to help you do just
that. Stop thinking and start calling 1.800.543.2SKI.

Snowmakers are rising to Mother Nature's
challenge today as well by covering White Heat,
Rogue Angel, and oh so much more. Temps this week
are ripe for snowmaking glory, so watch our trail
count rise in leaps and bounds before the weekend.

Groomers will get out tonight on 61 trails and I
betcha tomorrow's corduroy will be extra zippy.
With flurries and snow showers tomorrow, we could
get up to another inch during the day. Temps will
be up to the low 20s. Come on up.

Did I mention we have about a million deals going
right now? All For One passholders can get VIP
lodging rates from $30 this week. If you've got a
pass to another mountain, have a midweek affair
with us for $39. Etickets are on sale at double
the usual savings. And that's just the beginning.
Need I remind you that it's snowing? Click here:

It's what you've been waiting for and it's so good.
See you in the A.M.

so tempted... ~4 hour drive each way....

So tempted to go to SR after reading their reports, but it's supposed to be FREAKING COLD tomorrow, -30 with windchill. I'm torn, SR, Stratton (free pass for that) or Loon or Okemo... SR has by far, the most acres open, but it's about 1 1/2 times the drive. Ahh well, better to have to make these choices than to have to consider where to go because of the r@!n...

When wind is an issue Bretton woods usually has the lest amount of wind. They brag about it on the web site. www.brettonwoods.com

That is true however I was there in Feb. 2001 and wind did close the mountain around 1:00. They gave out vouchers to return another day

Wind is not a factor at Bretton Woods! Wind has affected lift operation only 5 out of 4161 days

I was there in 2002 or 2003 or 2004 when it happened. It was windy all day. Kept getting worse. They started telling people to stay away from the woods and ski the middle of the trails only. A huge tree fell pinning a girl beneath. Had she been a foot forward or back she most likely would have been killed. But the branches held the monstorous tree up. Someone was watching over her that day. Needless to say, they eventually closed and gave out vouchers.

i skied bw today. There was much less wind than attitash (took a few runs in the morning), and it snowed lightly all day picking up in the afternoon. I realize the place is flat, but I like it when it's a windy day. Also the low angle means they open natural snow trails and glades long before anyone else.

Sounds like the same day. I may have the year wrong, now that I think about it, it was 02. I can remember tree branches all over the trails. Also staff was quite rude about the vouchers, they tried to give one for the whole group and said "you came as a group come back as a group" we finally got a ticket for everyone. Needless to say we never went back.
