I agree they pay more attention to Birch than Sunrise, but that's intentional by design. Birch being groomed daily makes sense. Sunrise being groomed daily is unnecessary in a normal year and I wouldn't want to see it groomed that often. And yes Birch sees more traffic. It is a blue and Sunrise is a black. So I agree based on a decent number of intermediates going up NL, it makes complete sense that Birch sees more traffic and always will. Even if Sunrise was groomed daily that still wouldn't change.
We are pretty much in agreement. It just feels like SR is under used and I'm not sure what could be done to fix that.

Personally I don't think there's anything to "fix". Every trail does not need to see the same utilization. I don't really know that I would agree it is "under utilized". Plenty of people ski it as is and I like it the way it is. I never really saw the entire NL pod as having any issues with the current design. I never felt either more terrain or a different mix of terrain was needed.

What are the chances of the CR chair running this weekend? Or the many black trails that are closed on today's snow report opening?

Use the web cam my friend. They don't lie. I think there is plenty of coverage and most trails will be open in not all. I think Caslerock might be a mechanical issue there is like 4 ski mobiles at the base.

All trails that are ungroomed in Vermont right now are sheets of ice. They'll open as they see snowcats or soften back up, coverage permitting.

I am old enough to remember when SR was wide all the way to the top...they let the east half of the top part grow in.

CR will be challenging this weekend...not sure how much cover there will be especially down low.
