Any firsthand reports from this morning, did it rain up there?
We got 3-1/2" at 1,000'. Freezing rain mostly and some fast-falling (wet) snow currently.

I'm at about 1650' elevation. I just went outside. Looks like just a thin layer of frozen on top of the new snow that appears to have been primarily sleet (frozen layer less than 1/4"). No sign of actual freezing rain at this elevation (slightly above base level). No idea what happened higher up the mountain though. Temps were warmer higher up than at my condo this morning when I woke up.

It’s not the kind of snow we wanted, but it is the kind we needed. Wet, heavy & sticky. Very wet snow falling down low, more variable up top. I don’t think I’ve hit a rock all day skiing lift line early, then up by paradise The rest of the morning. Looking forward to not having to do base repair for the first time in days.

CR is currently down…

I am not a racer or follow it that much, but I think that most people underestimate the size, dedication and inthusiasm of the Race community here at Sugarbush. GMVS is a large part of that but there is also the weekend race crew, the alumni, all the retired people live in the valley that race in the league and the general racing public. They have dedicated slopes for the racers here at Sugarbush which is more than most mountains. If Altera and the race community wanted to put up a sign to honnor a great racer, I see no bad motives for that.
Looks like they are honoring her at Stratton too, though the ”83” is already out of date

Was looking at the webcams now and its dumping. Looks like some nice upslope happening. Mid mtn stake shows 9" which must be left from yesterday.

There was a little bit of un-frozen precip between 6:30 and ~ 8:00 here are the base of Lincoln Peak. It snowed all day after that. There was about 5" down at around 5:00 am this morning the snow was creamy up top and with the funky precip, the lower areas setup (this was first thing this am).

Lot's of people queued up to get on Bravo when it opened:

Allyn's lodge snow stake late in the day (people will enjoy the consistency of this snow, drier than this morning)

Reports from my son-in-law who skied while I was traveling said it was heavy skiing in the morning but the temps dropped and it snowed heavily again at times and his last few runs on CR were an A. Not an A+ but an A. And, he is a good snow critic. Thus, I am guessing the am skiing with be worth getting up. I am planning on it after missing two days.

Perspective from the Midstation Singlechair guy at MRG (you can follow him on Facebook, btw):

Finally, we're skiing most of the Main Mountain. I'm going to take this opportunity once again to remind everyone out there tuning into this blog that, in order for "The Woods" to be "Ready," you need there to be 40 inches of snow. We have 2 inches of crust underneath about 12 - 16 inches of recent snow since Thursday night. While you may see tracks going into various woods lines, these are made by either 1) Hyper-local skiers who know every nook and cranny on General Stark Mountain and maybe they went in to cut the line themselves, or 2) Foolish skiers who think they're going to find "the goods" in there. Please trust me, as someone who will dip into the woods at a moment's notice when the time is right, PLEASE wait until that 40 inches rolls around. We've had some very bad wrecks in the woods the past few days, including kids getting hurt in the woods. Please don't add to that list, especially when the actual trails are skiing as good as they were today.
Much Love
❤
im not debating him but how often is there 40 inches on the ground? I mean, was there ever 40 inches at a time last season?

I am surprised there are no posts. Is everyone exhausted after an awesome date? Unfortunately, my day was cut short as my eldest teenage grandson likely tore his ACL on Lower Birdland mid-morning. It was certainly nice to have the Three Peaks Clinic open with a volunteeer Doc to see him. Patrol was their usual awesome self. I told my grandson the good news is he no longer has to miss two Friday classes on a powder morning.

I also ran into the Manager of Lift Maintenance. He said Inverness was inspected two weeks ago and ready. The roads into Slidebrook are still rough but he is hoping to get a groomer in to fill in the water bars and get all the towers readily accessible. Hopefully, it can be ready to go next week as has been mentioned.

Sorry to hear that about your grandson. Hope he recovers quickly!

I snuck out this afternoon for a couple runs after work. Lower CR Run was particularly enjoyable...

Sorry to hear that. Hope he recovers quick. Can't imagine that comment went over well.
And yes we're tired from lapping CR before the crowds get here tomorrow.

Excellent at Ellen today. Groomers like Which Way, Cruiser, and Elbow were beautiful first thing. Ungroomed trails such as FIS, Hammerhead, Exterminator, Semi-tough, Brambles...all skiing really well. Although even with all the new snow in the past week amazing how bad the water bars on the last 1/4 of Semi-Tough still are.

Rode up with an ambassador on GMX right after we finished up the Inverness trails for the day. Mentioned the water bars and suggested they send a groomer up to fill them in at the bottom and leave the rest of the trail as is.
