Please remind me, how far south is Stratton from Sugarbush? I guess it was really cold in Southern Vermont, Stratton is planning on opening up Wednesday.

They're all shooting for as much open terrain as possible for T-Day. I don't ski until there's a decent base; the woods are always there. Please remind me, how far south is Stratton from Sugarbush? I guess it was really cold in Southern Vermont, Stratton is planning on opening up Wednesday.
guess that means we are not driving up to the valley this weekend either. just what the locals like! will go spend our money elsewhere while the snow on top of the mountain appears to just sit there, wasting away, not melting the last several days. They just posted in IG they are trying for Sunday.

wish this wasn't the truth.Thanksgiving is not a skiing holiday. If you get turns in great, but it's almost always WROD.
I think it might have been 2018 when the Friday after TG was the best single day of the season. We had Cannon passes that year, and the front five opened entirely on natural snow. I swear this isn't an old-age made up memory.Thanksgiving is not a skiing holiday. If you get turns in great, but it's almost always WROD.
Heck, look at the Sugarbush website. The image they show is Castlerock last year - Thanksgiving weekend! Surprised they are still advertising that...I think it might have been 2018 when the Friday after TG was the best single day of the season. Says you. I have not missed a 3 or 4 day ski weekend for thanksgiving ever! I'm not sure what other people have done over the years but I have skied in October at least 10 years of my life. Hell I almost skied in September once at Killington. It is what you make of it. That being said, this year is definately the worst I have experienced.Thanksgiving is not a skiing holiday. Going to have to watch my god awful football team (giants) get humiliated
Happy Holidays!
lol I have not watched a Giants game yet this season. Been fishing or lately skiing.I've pretty much given up watching them at this point. I watched 1 quarter on Sunday and then decided to make better use of my time by working on Christmas lights.
I wish they would allow hiking to the snow they made up high, pipe dream they would have to groom it out and then allow you to access it. They have really tightened the belt on the skinning policy over the years.Because Sugarbush can say they opened this week but they will leave out the part its hike to.
FB says Sunday now.No they aren't. They said yesterday their original plan was to open Wednesday, but they pushed it back to Friday and even that remains "as fluid as the weather".
I think 2021-22 started about as slowly and the first half of December was not much better. Of course the lifts were running slightly earlier but they were downloading on Super Bravo in those days. The upcoming cold shot will mean a lot of terrain expansion over the next two weeks.Says you. I have not missed a 3 or 4 day ski weekend for thanksgiving ever!
