This would have never happened if Win was still in charge. Win would have communicated the water issue around Thanksgiving. I also believe Win would have pivoted and opened the top of Ellen first.

I don't disagree, but Win had the luxury of being the owner. SB management has to answer to Alterra, who apparently is not as open to things along those lines. Transparency and creativity are always winners.

So open VH and drop the ropes this weekend!

I agree he would have been more transparent earlier about the water. I'm not as sure he would have pivoted to open the top of Ellen first. There are a lot of variables at play that we don't have easy visibility into. It isn't just as simple as opening a different lift last minute. They could have contractual commitments to GMVS for ME. There are F&B and other staffing changes that would need to happen. We don't even know the exact timing for the original plan for HG. Maybe a month ago they still thought HG would be ready by Thanksgiving/early December and could be a backup plan if they didn't have enough temps down low. There are just a lot of things we don't know. It is easy to sit here and say "they should have done this or someone else would have done that", but we have very little insight into the full details of everything.

What is up with the web cams? Do they not want us to see what's going on? Walt's cam is frozen in one position so you can't view the skiing (been like that all day) North Lynx, Slide Brook, Super Bravo, and Mt. Ellen base are all down for Maintenance. I get bored at work and like to check these things out. Its great marketing for the mountain, I'm sure you guys know the kind of page views they get,... Fix'em

Yea...this is getting weird. I noticed all those same things as well. Way too many cams offline (or in a position to show nothing like the Walts one).

Isn't he the guy that posted his day at Killington last year doing a human slalom in the early season? I guess being on closed terrain is a step up. Regrettably I think he has support from Parlor

Skiing closed terrain and keeping it to yourself is one thing...but filming it and posting it on social media is just stupid. I don't get it at all...
If he has a season pass he might discover that it does not work when he tries to use it. Ski areas don't want people promoting this kind of behavior that will lead to folks getting hurt. Especially if this guy is some kind of influencer.

Is this the case? I've listened to a bunch of podcasts with Alterra people at other resorts, and they seem quite open. In particular the women who runs Solitude (former SB person if IIRC) was pretty open about various challenges and plans. I think it is SB's management, but the only Alterra property I follow this closely is SB.
