I suspect I'm repeating something already said but I'm fully in the camp of just don't run castlerock, ever. I'm usually a quantity over quality person (within reason and yes that's not mistyped) but given the line that forms there when conditions are good, I don't think you lose much quantity with the chair not turning🤷‍♂️
I love the hike and solitude you get rewarded for. Agree.

Any intel on what the problem is with the castlerock lift? Is it that they just havent gotten around to it?
NRX is a frankenstein HSQ which is always difficult to deal with and GMX they apparently had problems diagnosing the issue. But CR is a fixed grip which is not that old. It seems odd that whatever the problem is has taken so long to rectify.

I think with being short staffed they were focused on the other lifts before CR. With no snowmaking and hiking access it's probably low on the priority list.

Waiting for the snow reporter to chime in with "Castlerock may run today, Hopey, hopey, artichokey"
Nah, it would be more like. "hopefully this weekend, we will be rollin' the Castlerickity, Rocky area" or something like that. :ROFLMAO: The reporter is probably on TikTok right now trying to come up with some skibidi lines or something like that.

Castlerock is absolutely one of the best terrain pods in the entire Northeast. Having the lift up and running, especially over a holiday weekend, should be a priority.

Nah...they should keep the best terrain as hiking only in order to limit it to as few people as possible.

I'm kidding!

There is another factor why they might be in no rush. I have been over there and the skiing is pretty good in certain places. middle earth and some places on Castlerock and lower Castlerock are good. But keep in mind that CR is getting maybe a counle hundred skiers a day over there. People are acting like there is feet of powder. Just look at ripchord and paradise. Once they open the lift it will be skied to the dirt and rock in a couple of days. And once that happens don't come on here and start bitchen about your skis and why are they letting people ski it. :rolleyes:

I also have no issues with the lift being closed until we get another good storm.

If lift personnel headcount is really the limiting factor, I'd rather have North Ridge running reliably than Castle Rock up and running. I don't mind the hike to CR but it really sucks for a lift to break down with kids on it, no matter how many free hot chocolates they hand out.

Don't think the latter two are broken at all - they just aren't inspected. Though obviously end result to the customer is the same.

From the blog;

Castlerock is next on the list. We’re excited to be welcoming in some additional staff from Alterra early next week. This is the third time that they’ve sent resources here to help our lift maintenance team. One of their focuses will be getting Castlerock up and running

Hopefully you're correct and it's a quick remedy but that post doesn't sound like just an inspection. When Sunny Q just needed an inspection, they specifically called it out, leading me to believe there's an underlying issue in addition to needing to pass inspection.

It was open this afternoon. I saw it on the cam.
There is a mechanical problem with Castlerock That is not a rumor. I think they have it figured out though.
