The parking lots are nowhere near as full as last weekend. You'd have pretty short lines today if there weren't wind holds on half the lifts.
But there would be more people in the parking lots (and lift lines) if it wasn’t a very windy day today - I stayed home for that reason.

As far as the bitching about lifts down due to mechanical issues,… I am in complete agreement with everyone on here that is pissed off.

The wind hold thing though? Come on people,… wind holds happen. I have zero doubt that there was significant amount of wind to shut the lifts down.

Lines were crazy today. I had think we waited for close to 30 minutes during the peak.

The funny thing is, the woman that have managing the line,… same person as last week. I was able
To figure out there was one line that moved 2x faster and she was letting 2 groups go at a time 🤪

If the skiing was not as good as it is,… I definitely would have gone in early - but the skiing is awesome. Let hope this great pattern continues!

It was also a Southerly wind which is rare so different lifts are impacted differently. I was out early. Zero wind in the base and blowing hard at the top of Bravo. Fortunately it was only at the top and not coming across the top terminal in the wrong direction or that one would have been on Windhold. I was surprised that GMX was with that direction but the skinner who reported told the story of why. Winds can come over that ridged and accelerate downslope. MT is the third highest peak in VT and Summit is the highest of all lifts in VT.

The below is the Sugar Blog- IMO no other excuse other than a complete failure of management.

Welcome back to your MLK Weekend edition of State of the Mountain. Let’s jump right into the topic on many of your minds: Castlerock. We made significant progress on the lift this past week, but there’s still some more electrical work to complete and sensors to swap out before it can be inspected. We want to be spinning Castlerock as much as you do, but it will continue to remain accessible via hiking access only through this weekend. While there is certainly a contingent of skiers who prefer hiking access, we know for many of you this is a major disappointment. The bottom line: we wanted to have this done sooner, it wasn’t able to happen, and we are truly sorry. We will continue to provide updates as the work continues.

The team is working hard and the resort as a whole continues our recruiting efforts to add additional lift mechanics to the staff through things like signing bonuses, raised pay, using recruiters and paid ads, and continuing to offer training to mechanics through Alterra Mountain Company’s partnership with Colorado Mountain College’s lift maintenance training program.
I can’t wait to see the spin they put on when pass sales go live in March, they are going to have to be real creative, offer current pass holders a discount for a total infrastructure failure or just say nothing do nothing like nothing happened.

You're dealing with Alterra. It will be the latter. With a price increase.

The complaining about wind holds has got to stop. The wind was screaming up high. Do you really think they want to close the lifts?
There are issues for sure but it’s gotten to be a bit much in here.
