Debating whether to make the trek to Sugarbush this weekend. I don't wanna be faced with these lift issues Saturday morning.
Begrudgingly, to Sugarbush's credit, at least they are actually telling us what the issues are instead of "planned maintenance".

A tower assembly rebuild isn't a quick process however..

No one can predict when the lifts will operate or not. You just have to come and see. Just speaking from a reality point of view, we are stuck with whatever they have going. We can not affect it, change it or facilitate any substantial upgrade. We can only vent on here. I would hate to think that this is only a place to bitch about what is bad. That is what it seems to have become. We all have our gripes. I am going to try to not look at the bad so much and focus on the good. Just my thought for today. Maybe tomorrow it will change. ;-)

Yesterday was pretty solid but could definitely feel the effects of the weekend. Ripcord was really nice in the morning so I did some laps on that and took a run down castle rock run which was a little sketchy. North lynx was pretty nice. The top of sunrise was a nightmare but it got much nicer further down. Thinking about doing a cheap ticket for mt Ellen tomorrow but trying to decide if it’s worth it

I’m coming to Vermont in two weeks. I timed the trip so that I could ski on Thursday, or the promo day for Mount Ellen. I also have comps for Middlebury. With the uncertainty about the lifts, I’m seriously leaning towards Midd before heading the Burke. I can’t have lifts not operating. I’m already rolling the dice with snow conditions as it is the east coast.

Heading to Midd tomorrow, though no backside lift running...

ME is nice and should be really nice with warm temps on the weekend. Right now it's firm but hero snow on groomers all over, though still styrofoam enough bumps (Exterminator) to get an edge in.

I was wondering if Bailey Falls ran midweek. If it does not, that takes a lot of terrain off the map.

Photo Compliments of LiftBlog.

Based on the snow report, if I had to guess, I’d say that one of the sheave assemblies had issues. Maybe a sensor is off. This is a depression tower (or hold down). This is where the lift goes from flat to a steeper pitch. This is a key part of the line. I find it interesting that there is a support tower right after it. Hopefully this issue is resolved quickly.

Omg, they didn't even do the jump and skied around instead, even the second rock. This is why woods all over are scraped off.
Conditions have been excellent though more tracked areas of woods are bobsled runs (see above). Pinball Alley is tough but rewarding once you're through. 2" yesterday and another 2" last night helps.
