I can tell you from experience that not getting it right can set the process back..well, years..

Exactly if they can't get the project description correct, what else is completely F'd up. so if I'm a reviewer I am going through this application with a fine toothed comb.

you're right AR, but at the same time its silly that something so simple could be screwed up.

We are finally getting a new lift - which happens to be one of my favorite lifts on both mountains. You can access a ton of terrain off that lift and there is zero runout. Besides the sunny d, this is the first real love north has gotten in years. When I first read the post, I was thinking it would be operational next winter - wishful thinking and I will take 2027-28.

Hopefully this is under the sidsturbed limit set by the State or the site contractor better get some erosion controls set up quickly, unfortantly VT has some strict standards to follow especially for winter disturbances.

I was wondering about the plan for the clubhouse replacement. I hadn't heard anything - so they are going to put some temporary structure there? Like a tent?

As I said a while back. Big shoes to fill. SB does file permits themselves. For sure, proofreading should have been more diligent. This won't cause delays in the review. I don't believe an administrative amendment will be required. Usually, things like this are handled informally by the district coordinator. Bottom line... given a March submission permits should be well in hand to start tearing out the old lift in April '27. Any bets on whether those chairs will be auctioned off? Bake sale anyone?

I agree...this is almost a year earlier than SB usually files the ACT 250 permits for lift replacement projects, so a minor typo in the cover letter (the application form itself is correct) should not be a major issue.

From the ACT 250 filing for the clubhouse...

This permit specifically authorizes the construction of a temporary, 3,720 square foot modular, single-story golf clubhouse building as an interim replacement for the original clubhouse destroyed by fire. The temporary building will include a restaurant, bar, pro-shop, public restrooms, and an 1,870 square foot wooden patio/deck. A small LP tank will used for the seasonally heating needs of the building.

This lift is expected to be $10 million. That is double the Belleayre Gondola's cost in 2017. I know there is inflation but this is also a shorter lift. CPI alone would only explain 1/4th of the cost increase. Are lifts going through crazy inflation?

Yes. That Gondola would probably cost ~$16million today. BTW, my house in 2017 cost $425,000. I could easily get double that today, so not just lifts going up in prices.

The lift itself is $8M per the ACT 250 filing. The other $2M are site prep (including demolition) and utilities related costs... And yes, zero surprise that this costs more than the Belleayre gondola 10 years later...

Depending on where materials and parts come from. Highly doubt full US sourced. That said, with the Supreme Court ruling, who knows what the true tariffs will be.

Doesn’t matter where the steel comes from, if there are tariffs then domestic manufacturers will raise their prices to just under the tariff price. Price increases either way.
