Too deep to shovel...too soaked to snowthrow

What a frickin mess this storm turned out to be!

2 hr commute....20 minutes of it 2 miles from the office. GAH!

So I left early to be sure to avoid the longer drive home...only to see 4+ inches of slush in the driveway.

Meh...it only took 1-1/2 hrs to get most of the driveway, the front walk, the deck with a combo of snowblower and shovels.

Now...it's beer o'clock and time for bed. Race League kick-off party @ Wa tomorrow night!

With these temps (and humidity)...I'm thinking snowmaking ops are at a standstill.

At least with these temps...what snow I didn't get off the driveway etc will melt tomorrow. :>

My snowblower was just pushing out tubes of slush. So I gave up and started shoveling.

My blower was able to move the stuff surprisingly. I still did a shovel clean up...I was worried about the leftovers freezing.

Oh, the lightning show going on while running the blower was interesting.

I didn't do much of a shovel clean-up...and I now have leftover frozen stuff on my north-facing driveway. :-x

It was good workout shoveling the front walk and deck after cleaning out the drive way with the snowthrower. I was soaked from sweat and needed a shower.

All of the rain though caused one the GFI's to trip due the Xmas lights. I was doing this during the lightning show too.

I did as well but I was tired and soaked last night...new snowblower worked fine (bogged down some but never clogged), but it's a beast to move around. Time to put down the ice melt and hope for the best.

Snow stayed dry here so i cranked upmy ariens beast twice yesterday . Last nite overnite it turned to rain sleet combo but the driveway remained clear .

But i sure agree that wet heavy crap is the pits and real heart attack snow slush

I'm almost maniacal about clearing snow/sleet/etc. Blowing it off and having it set up sucks. So yesterday morning when I detected a change to sleet, I got out there and cleared all the snow. Normally, I would wait, as a lot of sleet can bond to bare surfaces and set up like concrete and it's almost impossible to remove, with either a shovel or snow thrower. Sometimes it's better to let the sleet accumlate on the snow and when it's all done, you can get the snow thrower under the sleet level. I knew yesterday's storm would change to rain so I wasn't worried about that. The timing was perfect, as by the time I was done, it was mid-morning and the drive to work was fine both in terms of road conditions and less doofuses out and about. If I left normal time it probably would have taken me twice as long so I would have been in the same time anyway, and stressed out. Came home to a small bit of slush at the end of the driveway from the plow. 5 minutes to clear that.

My ariens was able to "throw" some of the stuff that wasn't sitting in a puddle. The stuff in the puddle was more "puked" than "thrown".

Greg....good call on the clean first, commute second. I would have blown the whole day off had I not spent Tuesday out of the office.
