Well the transit strike is officially over but I have a funny story to relay. A buddy of mine was riding his bike downtown today and saw a guy riding a bike, wearing a ski helmet and goggles.

Damn, wasn't that cold out. I walked from Penn to 57th all week... great exercise.

Let's take a look at the situation.......Brooklyn Bridge, some winds, cold weather.....I say he had a very good idea. ;)

I'm guessing he bikes faster than you walk creating his own microclimatic wind chill factor :D

Holy chit, I'd be hot has hell biking with my ski helmet on. No matter how cold it is. It's also not so good for the peripheral vision you want to preserve whilst riding through heavy traffic.

Of course, there isn't a time I've ever gotten on my bike for a leisurely ride.

When I ride in the winter I use a helmet cover or a neoprene/polypro beanie under my bike helmet.
