I am from England and planning on visiting friends in America, Mount Snow area. I'm wondering how is the snow around Christmas, December 20th through the 1st. Any help would be good.

Cheers.

Obviously the answer will have a lot to do with what type of weather mother nature sends to Southern VT in the days/week leading upto that time. But, if the weather is marginal, or even if it's very good (lots of cold snowmaking weather and natural snow too), Mount Snow can make large amounts of snow over lots of terrain(and groom it) pretty much as good as any ski area out there. So as long as it isn't above freezing with lots of liquid (as opposed to frozen) precipitation in the 2 weeks or so leading upto your arrival, you'll be fine, with lots of well covered trails to choose from.

My wife and I went up early December of last year. While there wasn't a mid season amount of natural snow, temps were cold and the fan guns did their thing. I think by that point in December, they should have some good coverage laid down.

In my experience, the numerous Fan Guns at Mount Snow help them recover quickly. A few times last year, I ran into the rain/freezing rain weather situation. When the temperatures drop back to more winter like conditions, MS can really resurface that terrain quickly.
