Woke up just after 7:00 to hear my wife say something about it raining outside!! WTF? i checked the forecast yesterday and it was supposed to be nice today. "You are not going riding in this, are you?" yes dear, i'm going for a bike ride, it really isn't raining that hard! ;-)

Headed down to Trumbull to meet up with Migs01 and perhaps others. It started raining really hard on the drive over but when i pulled in there was Migs01. We waited a bit and Eric (hugo03 on crankfire i think) arrived.

Eric knew the place well and led the ride. I'm F'ing pissed at myself, i didn't start my GPS correctly so i don't have a record of the ride. The odometer said we did about 6 miles in about 2.25 hours.

I've ridden Trumbull several times but the route Eric took us on was about 75% new to me. For a small park there are a lot of trails. We started out along the river but then cut across and up towards RT25 then back down towards the river and up again to an area called picnic table. Eric and Migs pointed out several highlights to me during the ride and i finally learned the names of a few areas i've been through before. Some really cool stuff in trumbull. i plan on riding there a lot more. Very grateful to have a great place like that so close to home.

Rain was heavy at times (worse than a few weeks ago @ Nass). I was absolutely soaked in my cotton shirt. Never cold though, even only wearing shorts.

No serious injuries. i managed a few very close inspections of some trees but am none the worse for it. My bike started spontaneously shifting on the front derailleur toward the end of the ride, need to figure out what is going on. Migs had a chain bust on him but had a spare so he was able to keep riding.

All in all, very good ride. Great to meet Migs01 and Eric.

Good ride today. Gm forgot to mention one thing...my otb experience. we were crossing a river that i've crossed many times before except this time it was pretty swollen and all the run-off turned the river muddy. long story short, front wheel got pinched between two submerged rocks and i went face first into the river. the cool thing is that i emerged no wetter than when i went in cause of all the rain. Then my chain broke...

Awesome stuff, love to hear the Trumbull report and would like to read more of them in the future ;)

There are tons of trails in there and it's really good to go with someone who knows. I rode in that park for all of HS, when riding, and I probably only touched 5-10% of the trails available. I only stumbled upon the picnic area after many times of riding around.

One thing you gotta check out at least to see how insane it looks, is the "Green monster" or something like that. This huge steep mossy roller, probably about 20ft tall. I never did it, but it's just amazing to see dudes do it.

So many lines everywhere in that park...
