what salida said. my recent first trip up to the ravine, i climbed up hillmans highway which is far from the steepest line there. the hike up had me pretty scared i was going to not secure a proper foothold a slide backwards in an uncontrolable fashion into the rocks. the ski down was easy enough for me, but i have skied stuff steeper than hillmans highway before (but nothing consistantly that steep for that long...) and of course the ravine has much steeper lines than that. i definitely wouldn't ski from the top of the ravine without knowing how to make jump turns. it's all about control.

Agreed; also, if you have to put your skis on before the top for some reason and you're in a spot like the headwall or Chute, good luck!

Thats why I always climb above the headwall and find a mellow place to strap in...
