How often do you tune your board or skis? Do you do the work yourself at home or bring it a ski shop?

I get a tuneup every 10 ski days or so, which works out to once or twice a year, since I rarely get more than 20 days on the hill these days. Do it myself usually.

I think there was a thread in Gear Forum regarding the same topic.

it all depends.

I tune them when it needs them. IIt's not like changing the oil in my car. I Check the edges. If not sharp and needed (last week's FFFFRGR dulled my boards in one day), I do it in the garage the night before.

I'll wax them only when conditions warrant. Expecting some po today, I waxed them yesterday. Last Wed., I didn't wax them at all.

If race is imminent, I give them the de-luxe treatment.

I may have to take them into the shop for some p-texing - I don't have the patience for that.

Edge deburr after every day on the slopes
Hot wax after every 1-2 days (I have a ridiculous amount of wax at my house)
Edge sharpen with a file as needed

Pretty much my routine. I do my own...have a nice vice, iron, etc. Ski wax and files are cheap, irons and vices are not.
