Twas The Night Before Christmas when out on the mountain,
All the fan guns where firing, making some snow
The skis were slung in the corner with a fresh coat of wax
In hopes that some powder snow would soon arrive
The jibbers where all drinking, crowded at the bar
While visions of rail slides danced in their heads
A snow bunny in a bikini, and I in the buff
Had just settled into the hot tub for a long winter soak
When out on the hill there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the tub to see what was the matter
Away to the mountain, I streaked like a flash
Tossed on my pants and threw on my coat
The reflection of the moon off the newly made snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects above
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a Pisten-Bully, and eight Bombardiers
With a bearded old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment this must be Nick
More rapid than eagles his groomers they came,
And he hollered and shouted, and radioed them by name
Now Greg! Now RivercOil! Now, JD and Deadheadskier!
On, dmc, On andyzee, On Johnskiismore and Sledhaulingmedic
To the top of the mountain, to the top of the hill
Now groom away, groom away, groom away all
As flurries before the wild blizzard flies,
When they meet with an obstacle, tillers and blades to the hill
So up the mountain the snow-cats they flew,
With tanks full of diesel, and coffee too.
And with a flashing strobe, I heard on the trail
The roaring and grinding of each tiller tine
As I drew from my ale, and was turning around,
Down from the cat, Nick came with a frown
He was dressed all in Carhartt, from his head to his toes
And his clothes were all stained with diesel and oil:
A thermos of coffee he had slung from his hand
And he looked like a true hillbilly opening his toolbox
His eyes all bloodshot and oh so weary but
His cheeks were all rosey and his nose like a cherry
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was a white as the snow
The butt of a camel he held tight in his teeth
And the smoke it encircled him like a wreath
He had a broad face and a large beer belly
That trembled when he laughed like a keg full of Genny.
He was chubby and plump, a NASCAR loving buff
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself
But with a puff of his butt and a slug of his Joe
He left me with hardly a doubt
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work
And greased all the fittings, then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger on the side of his nose
while blowing out a snot, into the snow-cat he hopped
He grabbed the controls and radioed to his team
Away they all flew with the roar of nine Detroit turbo diesels
But I heard him exclaim as they drove out of sight
Groomed runs for all and to all a smooth ride
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!!!!
