I know there have been a 100000000 threads related to the weather lately, and MANY MANY RANTS....., and I know its totally depressing, but I have to ask.

Whats everyones take on this weekends upcoming "storm"...definatley looks like its going to be rain again. What is this going to do to the already meager offerings on the East Coast.

I'll just wait and see. If I ran my life on everyone's forecasts (including NWS and weather babes), I'd never get out. Going back out next Wednesday.

The FGR is so hardpacked that I don't think it will degrade the base. It will put more ice atop, cats will crunch it up, you'll have more FGR. Loon made snow again last night. Resorts are still piling $$ into snomaking this early in the season, so at least it will give us a base.

Should make for some great paddling. Should put a hurting on the thin snow pack we have, but it looks like lingering snow showers after the fact so who knows.

The weather synopsis for Southern New England:

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
330 AM EST THU JAN 4 2007

...TEMPERATURES TO AVERAGE AN INCREDIBLE 15 TO 25 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL THROUGH THIS WEEKEND WITH RECORD HIGHS LIKELY SATURDAY...

.SYNOPSIS...
UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST WILL CONTINUE PUMP
UNSEASONABLY MILD AIR INTO SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND THROUGH SATURDAY.
BOSTON HAS NOT BEEN BELOW FREEZING SO FAR THIS YEAR AND PROBABLY
WILL NOT SEE THIS HAPPEN UNTIL TUESDAY JANUARY 9TH! THE PATTERN
WILL UNDER GO A CHANGE THAT WILL ALLOW VERY COLD AIR TO MOVE INTO
SOUTHERN CANADA EARLY NEXT WEEK. SOME OF THIS AIR SHOULD SPILL INTO
OUR REGION TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...BRINGING US MORE SEASONABLE
TEMPERATURES. HOWEVER...CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT THIS WILL NOT
LAST TOO LONG AND WE SHOULD RETURN TO ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES BY
THE LATE PART OF NEXT WEEK.

I agree...even if the reports are correct, at this point, waiting for better weather is just going to make my ski season shorter...

I plan on going out on Sunday unless it's pouring NCP. I'm sure there will be something white to slide around on.

All it means is that I might get wet skiing this weekend.

And the meager offerings will get wet too.

Rain is not stopping me this weekend, I look at it as a way to soften up the hardpack. My only dilema is where.
