Seems a bit excessive of a break over there. They could have designed it so the upper tower is a little uphill and the lower tower is a bit more downhill making the transition a bit smoother.

The pay package also includes........ $80,000 in resort credits every year. Credits can be redeemed across Vail's portfolio for accommodations, meals, spa services, golf lessons, ski rentals, and excursions.

WTH? That is beyond weird.

Basically his family just gets everything for free, meals, lessons, equipment, clothes, lodging, Brazilian waxing..... etc... It's just a bad look and really dumb given how trivial it is versus his total comp.

I imagine it's because they wanted the gondy base to be smack dab in the middle of the hotel & retail plaza.

That's why I turned and spun around in the video, so you could see how it loads right next to lodging, retail, restaurants, etc.... It reminds me of how the Eagle Bahn gondy goes right into Lionshead Village at Vail if you're familiar.

I find this article amusing, as if ski Mt Snow employees and their children aren’t part of the community themselves…..
I’m a bit confused because if they were already part of the community then why weren’t their kids already enrolled there ? Seems shitty they only gave 6 weeks notice to the kids they are kicking out

That daycare facility (which has been around long enough that my now almost 22 and 20yr old kids were there on a seasonal Winter weekend basis back in the day), which operates year round, has been taking care of not just employee kids or weekend guests kids, but kids of local community residents, and there are very few other daycare facilities within a say 10-15 mile radius, hence the issue

I have no clue what the current ratio of children in that daycare who have parents who work for the mtn vs those who don't, but it definitely will effect some kids and families who live year round in the area. And given what has happened since Covid with so many properties that the locals who couldn't afford home ownership and relied on long term rentals now priced out due to those properties being bought up and renovated and put into the short term rental pool and a much higher rate, and the still loss of the local to the mtn grocery store to bank foreclosure, this will have significant effect on some families.

Will it get some of those families to seek employment with Vail Resorts to get access again to childcare? Time will tell. Will it make some current employees who have children in the daycare facility appreciate this benefit of employment? Maybe

As a small business owner with 9 employees, I fully understand the advantages of being able to offer enticing benefits to employees. As a long time, typically 75+ day a year part time resident of the Mount Snow area who has used their daycare facility for my own kids in the past, I fully relate to the other side as well...
