Exactly. I am skeptical of a "cable snapping". Perhaps it was something else? Or a change in tension?If the cable snapped, there would be no rope evac to do. All of the passengers + chairs would be on the ground.
Deroping from the bullwheel or a tower could certainly make a harsh, abrupt stop that causes someone to fall out of a chair, though. Especially anyone who didn't have the bar down.
