So as a single on that day of HELL, I was wondering if anyone is going skiing on that day?? I am thinking that I must do something. Just curious if this is a busy day on the slopes or a slow one?? All I know is I HATE Valentine's Day and I need to do something to keep my mind off it!! Anyone with me on this- meaning anyone else going skiing on that day?? Or is everyone in the fantasy land called Love and doing the stupid lovie-dovie crap?? I am hoping that the slopes will be as nice as they are this weekend!

President's day weekend Saturday - I'd say it'll be just about as crowded as it can get, depending on weather.

In my experience it's a dead day. Everywhere. If you ain't available for your hunny you can kiss the rest of the season goodbye. The only ones that win are the very few couples who go out together.

You'll see a few promotions like "kiss your sweetheart" get 2 for 1 and stuff like that, but not too many takers.

Interesting to see how it pans out merged into Pres day week this year. I'd vote for same as usual - few takers.

Why hate the day? Why even care about it? That would be like hating Chinese New Year when you are not Chinese. I just ignore the ink on the calendar for that day as it doesn't mean anything to me. In any case, slopes should not be crowded. Any more than usual, at least.

exactly, just a hallmark holiday. I certainly try and do something nice with J in and around then, but I don't go over the top.

I have to work that evening and won't be skiing the 14th, but I'll be out there on the 15th. Most likely Tenney as every where else my vouchers are blacked out.

Funny you mentioned Okemo, I was looking at that place online last night. How is it there? I am interested in going there for a weekend soon. I have ben to Killington and love love loved it!! But I like exploring new mountains all the time. That was actually the mountain I was thinking of going on for the Vday weekend. Not sure yet though.. either that weekend or the next one. I am looking at prices of hotel still. Anywho, the point to this was, what do you think or like about that mountain?

i agree, a hallmark holiday for sure. you have to do the lovey dovey stuff when they least except it, much more mileage that way, plus you just should, its important to them and should be to you if it means anything. one week after... hey honey i'm going sking wanna go? nah you go hon enjoy!

See thats why I hate the holiday! Listen to you, and another one here that said something... you use it as a ploy to get your way later and earn brownie points. Your soposed to celibrate the love you share with your companion. Living a day to day with someone you sometimes need a reminder and thats what Valentines day is all about. Showing your "other half" how much you REALLY do love him/her, beciedes your anniversary or for those that do not have an anniversary yet or whatever the case may be. But, I also hate that day cause I have been single for the last 4 or 5 years- lost count, and im sick of watching everyone around me get flowers, cards, dinners, sex, or whatever while I drink alone... soooo lame! So I gave up being sad about it years ago, now I just hate the day. Nothing wrong with that.

no no no! not a ploy, just an honest by product of being truthful in the first place. i stated you should only be doing this if you really mean it and it is appreciated more if no one reminded to you by a holiday. you should just feel it an react. that was my point. sorry your so lonely. go out and blow of some steam! be a cat on a hot tin roof! jump off! take a lover!

Rooms in Ludlow can be expensive and Okemo will be jamming(not in a rock-n-roll way, but packed) for pres. week. If on a budget I'd consider Springfield for hotel and keep Magic on the radar.

Okemo will probably be busier than most on any weekend because they do a great job advertising.

Let us know what type of terrain you like to ski so we can recommend somewhere that matches it.
