The people who choose to skin up a ski area are usually the types who like to brag about themselves, often loudly.

You know how they say the best skiers are humble and don't talk about their skiing, yeah not them.

Yes, thorough, as in thoroughly ... prohibitive.

Only three bullet points pertain to skinning, and each one essentially says NO:

It's likely that SB's insurance company said no. When I was a passholder this issue was contested and, the last season I was there, they did allow skinners. So something changed since then.

And, FWIW, Snowbird now discourages folks from skinning afterhours due to avalanche control work and other activities.

Most ski areas don't check lift tickets at mid mountain or on lifts that don't originate from the base. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a few uphillers take advantage of this fact by skinning to the top and then lapping the mountain with these lifts.

I'm sure the resort would catch on to this eventually and either counter it by having lifties at mid mountain lifts and raising the price of the uphill access pass to compensate for the additional employees; or banning uphill access altogether.


Hope I'm not giving anyone ideas.....
