Whats your take on how the BC will be this weekend up there? Did it get too warm yesterday?

JD, you have a pass? i would SO be at mansfield more often for the BC but the price for a lift ticket is through the roof. not that it wouldn't be worth the hike! but it is hard to justify the hike when there was SO much lift serviced pow on monday at jay.

I do not have a pass. So much skiable, it's not hard to get 4-6000 vertical just skinning. Even on days I work it's not hard to beat the gondi to the top in the morning. Get going before 6 and you can be pretty sure you'll have anything you want completely virgin, which makes a difference to me.

A conversation I've had alot this year is quality vs. Quantitiy. At this point, with a knee that doesn't tolerate hardpack and an income that dosen't justify 1400 for a pass....I'll take my 2 or 3 perfect runs vs. 15 chopped up, bumped up runs any day.

As a person that has gotten 80 plus at Stowe for the last 7 years, NOT buying a pass is the best thing I could have done for my enjoyment of the activity.

How b'out y'all?

word, JD. before i broke my elbow, i had been planning on hiking up to do teardrop, that never happened though. wouldn't want to ski that stuff off the ridge line on the ski area/notch side without someone else though, seems to easy to get lost, especially since i have never been up there. probably should look into dawn patrolling some of the nicer shots off the ski area proper though even if i don't have a partner for the ridge shots.

You are clearly in better shape than I am if you can hike Mansfield twice in a day in snow. I'm dead tired after hiking it once and skiing it.

You just have to go slow. MTBing all summer helps to keep those endurance muscles tuned.
