I was psyched to start my season today! So psyched that I was determined to catch the first chair....until my alarm went off and I decided to throw that one out the window. I started out later than I thought, and after hitting some wicked snow squalls just north of the I93 tolls, and kicking myself for not getting up earlier for what clearly was the beginning of a overnight miraculous dumping of snow....... that ended up stopping 10 min later, needless to say I arrived around 9. I started my day by boldly going into the season pass office equipped with about 10 pages proving my enrollment in college, I had trouble getting my pass last year, only to not even need a single one. Booted up. And was off.

There is only one rout down the Mountain right now stretching from High Country, down Tippecanoe, and to the base via Lower Tippy. My first run was ugly, I had torn cartilage in my left knee back in September so I was being very hesitant and was not skiing very well at all. The conditions were not all together too bad, machine groomed and a little slick but edgeable. My second run of the day turned out to be even more entertaining than the first. On top of being afraid to fall, not sure of myself, and altogether not in form yet, the ski schools decided to all come out at the same time, so I got to play human slalom on what was the most crowded run of my life. Luckily the trail never got that crowded again and was very manageable for the rest of my day. I took a few laps down that and gaining my feet again, and confidence that I wasn't going to blow my knee out, actually started to ski decently and have fun. After a quick Lunch break I headed up to High Country and did two t2b runs. High Country definitely had the best conditions, some nice groomed powder up there. I had to use all my will power to call it quits just before 1 to save my knee so I wouldn't overuse it on my first day out and with a Dunkans mint hot chocolate in hand, headed home until next time.

Not a bad day overall but they do need to put the peddle to the meddle with snow making or they'll have trouble Christmas week. Surprisingly they were only blowing snow on the bottom run out and the terrain park all day, and started on Valley Run before I left.
