Will be there from about noon on with my friend Dana, non-azer...booo.
I'm pretty psyched for it. The last time I was at Waterville Valley I was nine years old and skiing there with my mother and a grade school friend. My father woke up sick, but my mom took me and my friend Jeff up skiing for the day anyways. It started snowing half way into the ride, but mom pressed on; only her second season skiing at 39 y/o with maybe 15 days under her belt. We skied all day as the snow piled up. This very well could have been my first 'powder day'. I had great fun, but mom and my friend less so as they weren't used to pushing around all the snow on the old skinny skis.
The normal 2.5 hour ride home to central mass took six hours as my mom white knuckled it the whole way while Jeff and I were cheering the cars spinning off of 93 seemingly every five minutes
I talked about this day with my parents today wishing them a happy thanksgiving. My mom remembers the whole experience well being terrified of something happening to Jeff and having to explain the situation to his parents. My dad remembers wondering where the heck we were when we rolled in at 10 PM....no cell phones back then.
Thanks Mom!!
So, if anyone plans on being at Waterville on Saturday, drop a pm or a line here and maybe we can meet up for some runs.
