So...who all waxes their skis here? Do you wax them yourself or pay someone? Do you wax them before every outing or once a year? What brands of wx do you use? I wouldn't mind doing the survey thingy...but I don't know how..lol :dunce:

Me? I wax mine myself with a hot iron and every brand of wax out there. I ALWAYS wax before a race and when not racing, maybe once after every 3 or 4 ski days (not every day mostly due to lack of time). :snow:

I usually get my board waxed/edged/tuned at Potter Bros. at midseason and the end of the season, and I use some Dakine rub on wax every other day or so to keep it fast.

Up until last season, I waxed nearly every outing. Now, my good skis, yes, but some of the older pairs might wait a day or two.

I wax skis every three days or so and maintain the edges by honing. In the spring I use wipe on waxes in addition to hot waxes. I carry Not Wax to the hill in case the snow gets really sticky.

In the past I have had shop waxes 5-6 times a year / about every 5 days on the snow. I just bought an iron yesteday on SAC and gonna get hooked up with some racewax.com to start doing my own waxing/tuning this year

I wax/tune before every weekend, so they get worked on every 2 to 3 days on the hill. If I did some particularly "good" damage mid weekend, or just flat out messed up my tune/wax they'll get some shop time mid weekend to help "salvage' the weekend on snow.

I've become a real big fan of using stuntwax (www.stuntwax.com), it's longevity is impressive and I'll still be finding my bases waxed and shiny even along the edges after 3 days of 25-30 runs a day on coarse mand-made snow.

Years ago, I used to hot wax religiously every 2-3 days out. Now...wax schmax. Whenever I bring them in to get edge sharpening. Perhaps once every 10 days. I said it before, I'll say it again, its the skier not the skis or the wax!

I have the shop wax at the beginning and again in the middle of the season. I'll be on two separate sets of skis probably equally this season so I should hold a tune better. For the type of skiing I do, I don't need a perfectly tuned ski...

I would like to learn to tune my own if I had the space, but I don't. Sometimes I have a shop do it, sometimes it just doesn't get done. Last year I finagled some 'discounted' tunes out of the repair shop at Sundown, so my skis actually got a decent amount of attention. The year before that I don't think they were done at all...

When it is cold I dont wax often. Only when they get tuned. about 5 to 7 day on the hill. In the sping I stop the tuning cause I dont need adges but get waxed almost every time out.
You wanna try something put some rainex on your skiis. They will go like a mofo. I am told it is not to good for the bases but I have not seen any damage yet

I used to tune my skis a lot in the 80'-90's and then kind got out of it as I lost tools and moved around a lot. I now have a new set-up in the basement and plan on doing most of my own tuning, waxing and base repair this year. I got an iron off of SAC last year and a vice and tools from Artech and Reliable Racing. I have some basic Toko wax right now and want to pick up some of the Dominator Race Zoom waxes for race nights.

I'm going to attempt to structure my bases this year too, but will likely drop them off at the shop for a stone grind once or twice.

I wax my race skis daily and the coaching skis about every 2-3 days. Use the High Flouro on the race and hydrocarbon on the coaching.

i get my board waxed before the first day on the hill and then about every 5 ski days bring it to the shop to get waxed again. I only get my edges sharpened once a year, in the beginning of the season.
