For me, I'm looking forward to a number of things:
  • Getting back up to the MRV to ski the 'Bush and MRG
  • Hitting the seeded bumps at Sundown
  • Meeting some new AZers and skiing with some I already know
  • Tracking all the big dumps with "The Official Storm Discussion Threads"... ;)
But most of all, this season I'm most excited about getting my 3 year old out on skis. My goal is to get her on snow a dozen days.

It’s hard to narrow it down to what I look forward to the most. It will all star with the rehire clinic at my mountain. I’ll see all the folks I haven’t seen since the end of the season, and all of the talk will be about skiing of course. Everybody will be talking about what they want to do this season, from places to go, to techniques to master, to the number of days they hope to get out. It’s a great revitalization, being immersed in a total ski culture environment after a long off season is very cathartic.

After that I’ll be looking forward to skiing places I haven’t been to in a while or ever:
MRG, Sugarbush, Saddleback, Sugarloaf. A trip to Panorama in B.C. and maybe a level two exam.

I'm looking forward to Burton buying MRG and making it snowboarders only!! It's true. I read it on the interweb.

Tin Woodsman, that is a GREAT avatar. I was at that game but couldnt see crisp make the catch because we were sitting in center field, way over towards the monster.

I am looking forward to living in ski country (almost) and breaking my record of 33 days out in one season, which should not be too hard as my new office is located less then 25 miles from Ski Sundown.

Hoping for as many days as last year. It might be tough with my new son. oh and getting him on skis, hopefully next spring. Kids can ski at 9 months , right?

Other highlights include:
Fall festival at Sunday River, when i get my new picture taken for my season pass and being able to see everyone I haven't seen all summer.
The first flakes of the season
The first accumulation of the season
The first day on skis
Powder days (aka sick days)
Beating Bob down the hill while I'm on my tele gear and he is on his fixed-gripped boards

It sounds as if we will have a good number of AZers at Sundown this year.

I'm looking forward to using my new skis and boots and exceeding my goal of 20 days. Wifey will be out of commission this season so I will be putting in a lot of day trips at Sundown, Mohawk, Jiminy, Butternut, and Catamount. I'm hoping to do a long weekend in Northern VT with a few college buds.
