In answer to the OP...........
Boyne.
They have great facilities, superb terrain, and up to date equipment, yet treat you like snobs.

When Planning an event at Boyne, they didn't give a break until you got to 35 attnedees, and even then the break in price was only $3.00 per person. Room rate breaks were non existent. May as well have told us that they didn't want us as a group.
But I still love their terrain, and will go back.

In good conditions, I can be entertained just about anywhere. The wimpy front face of Mount Snow is great on fat skis on a midweek powder day. I had fun skiing there on the north face in perfect corn snow on their closing day this April.

Haven't been in over twenty years, but even in saying that, I could see it being a quazi 'home' mountain for me someday with it's close proximity to where home is now for me. I'd prefer my 'home' mountain to be in VT, but it's a bit of a haul to drag a non-skiing SO to. I hope to have kids someday and that they attach to skiing like I did as a youngster. North Conway area offers the off hill appeal for a non skier so, J would be happy. Wildcat I love and could see being a home area, but I'd imagine if I had kids, having terrain parks would be something they'd want.

Guilty Pleasures:

OK, I enjoy skiing at Stratton for free after a snow drought. With a free ticket, I can over look the faults of the mountain and enjoy the employees who seem to like their jobs, the decent lift system, the easy access at the Sun Bowl base area and good snow making. Yes, I may bit of a ski whore, but free tickets make me say 'I enjoy skiing at Stratton for free'.

Another guilty pleasure: Deer Valley, yes I said it, Deer Valet. Million dollar homes, Stein Erikson, gourmet food and $1000 a night condos, Deer Valley. I don't really fit in the Deer Valley demographic, but being secure with myself, I don't really care. Deer Valley holds powder and most people stick to flat blue trails like glue and that leaves powder choked trees, a few tiny bowls and bump runs for me and a very few others. Deer Valley really makes my wife happy because she can scream down black diamond groomers at mach schnell and then catch a HSQ back. If you buy in SLC you can even get a discount ticket and the rest of the week my wife happily goes along to Alta, Snow Bird, Powder Mountain, Snow Basin and the rest.

Blue Mountain. The only time I go there is with friends that live close by and don't want to travel further north. For PA, it's a decent place (which isn't saying much)

I've yet to be ashamed of any place I've ever skied (now some of the turns I've made at a few places are another story entirely ;) ). So I doubt that I'll find an area that will have be blushing with embarassment when I mention that I've made turns there ;)

For me it would be Bristol Mountain in Western NY. I skied there this past season when my son was in the Eastern Freestyle Championship. I would never have skied that mountain otherwise. I will ski it again if I am there for one of my son's competitions.
