What is the primary cause of death cookies?

Early sat AM, Ralph's Run at Wa Wa was chock full of them. It got me thinking and who better to ask than the AZ community.

Conifer Connection, on the other hand, was in mid-winter form and skied very nicely. There's only so many times I lap it in a row before losing my mind though.

Grooming equipment churning up frozen goods.

I'll bet they didn't make snow on both of them at the same time, so timing with niar and temperature events might have come into play.

Were the cookies fused to the surface, or were they loose?

Snow thats wet and freezes then run over with a groomer or skier.. But not enough to pulverize it...

The snow was probably wet little warmer out when being mad and then froze and then groomed. This is usually how it happens. Confer probably had snow made when it was colder.

When they groom and the snow is still setting up. There are chunks that escape out of the sides of the groomer. Then they are left for the evening and they freeze up.

I good groomer will catch them and make another pass. It is dark out and they drive all night long so I can see how they miss things.

Lots of death cookies all the time and a groomer is going to loose there job.

Not at Blue!
The cause of Blue's death cookies is easily explained.

1. The guys operating the groomers don't ski or ride.
2. They wait until the last minute to groom
3. They "speed groom" everything once, instead of making several slow passes.
