They have had this same report for the last 3 days with a different day.

Wildcat Mountain will be closed today Wednesday, April 22 due to inclement weather. Wednesday afternoon we will reassess the conditions and look to reopen Thursday, April 23 weather/conditions permitting.

Being shut down during the week at this time of year is fine. If that is their plan, they should just say so.

I was there Sunday/Monday. Sunday was a great sun-filled day with soft snow and nice bumps. Then things froze up overnight and it snowed/rained on Monday. It stayed cold so things never softened. Conditions were quite unpleasant on Monday and the little grooming they did was quite horrendous by any grooming standards, leaving behind big frozen ruts in the middle of the trails and large blocks of ice. They still have a lot of snow on the man-made trails. The natural trails are questionable for next week imo. The few that were opened on Sunday were very patchy.

They are opening tomorrow. Lynx is getting pretty sketchy in spots. There is a section on the bottom that tends to turn into a running stream early and late season.

Do we have a conditions report from a more reliable source than their website available? Considering tomorrow, but not willing to spend the money if it's going to be as terrible as I think it might be. Thanks!

I was there today. They got an inch of snow and conditions were pretty good all things considered. It snowed all day but everything was edgable and softened up. Good coverage except for a few spots on lynx and upper wildcat. Very fun day.

Their FB post this AM is saying today through Sunday for sure, then a close down mid week with a possible re-opening next weekend.

Brian and his crew are trying for May lift served, but it might not happen this year

Yeah, I know they really want it, but they just don't have the snowmaking budget to put down sufficient snow depth to get there. Last year they talked big and fell short.

I just got up to North Conway. It's 36 degrees with flurries in the valley. 18 degrees at the summit of Wildcat. The mountain is going to be frozen solid to start the day. It'll probably soften in the afternoon at the base, maybe at the summit.

Who is going to be there this weekend? I may have a couple extra vouchers.

Did they ever blow snow in March? I know there were pictures of them setting up the guns.

No, they never pulled the trigger. They were going to blow on Lynx if the weather was "perfect" which never happened in their view. Now Lynx is in pretty rough shape.

The labor to set up the guns costs way way less than the cost of running the guns and blowing snow.

Sucks that lynx is in tough shape, but I'm not sure how much it would have helped from a business perspective to have actually blown the snow.

I'm not sure it makes much sense trying to provide TtB for May turns. Making Lynx last until May is a tall task. No other late players try for TtB. Killington cuts down to Supe, Jay to Jet , Sugarbush to Stein's etc. None of the above are high elevation terrain at those areas either.

I would think a better plan would be to bury Bobcat for late season weekend only skiing. Run the HSQ as long as mother nature allows and then switch to Bobcat for a weekend or two to maintain your last to close in NH marketing. Not only would it requires less snowmaking funds, but the Bobcat chair would be cheaper to run than the HSQ as well.

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
Any resort can be a late season player with minimal investment. Halfpipes aren't hallow. Come May mow it down, throw up a rope tow, and set up some park features for a few weekends. $20 for 12pm-5pm. It works early season at Woodbury. They were charging full price ($40) for a rope tow and magic carpet on Veteran's Day. After I called ahead and discovered the price I said "no way", but I checked the webcam that day and you would've thought it was the first time anyone had seen snow.

Big difference between a fall jib park at a feeder hill with millions of people within an hours drive and a destination ski area. No one is driving3+ hours to ride a 50 vertical foot park at K or Wildcat in May even if the price was free.

Yes, this is true. Current management at Peak Resorts has expressed zero interest in being open if they are not t2b. They seek the Wildcat Express Quad as their big advantage over the competition. They did not try to be the first area open in the fall, but they were the first open top-to-bottom.
