When skiing with a group of skiers with relatively equal skills, who you ski with often, at a mountain that you all know well, where are you most comfortable in the pack. Out front, somewhere in the middle or bringing up the rear.

I like to be out front or close to it.

Another cool thread topic from HPD! My ideal group size is 3-5. I like to be somewhere in the middle with some occasional stints in the front and rear.

I'm typically bring up the rear. On one of the bump runs at Sundown I would typically go first and bail out half way down. Then I would watch 2knees, Greg, and bvibert do their runs. I figure if I watch long enough it will rub of on me.

I'm usually skiing alone, not many people off work on weekdays. I'm not complaining in any way, skiing on weekdays rocks.

I'm usually way out in front of the group. I tend to be the guy waiting at the bottom of the trail

HEH! It depends on who I'm skiing with.

If it's Dozer...in front.

With my kids....it depends...the 22 yo likes to push the envelope...so he makes it interesting.

With WaLoafer and the other race team members...meh, I may start in front, but I finish near the back.

It's all good.

I have fun following people (though would rather not be last) ... it seems reasonably often I'm leading the way (the times when I'm the one who knows the mountain better, or at least knows the particular run better)

Depends on the group. With my main ski buddy we were always swapping, one would lead choose the trails then switch it up for the next run.

With my other friends who don't ski as often I am always the leader as the fact that I ski more often means I know all the trails, even at places Ive never been to before.:smash:;-)

I just like to have a good amount of space between me and anyone in front of me. other then that, it doesnt make much of a difference to me.

I like taking turns. I like to follow for a while. When i get bored with what the person in front of me is skiing I will take off in front. It gets real fun when I am out with a couple of buds that can rip. There are three of us that can really do some damage to each other. Those are the days i remember most. It hard to get together on a consistant basis because of schedules.

I ski faster than almost everybody I know so I get right to the front and usually wait several seconds down at the liftline. When I ski with my buddy Tom at Jackson Hole..I stop every 1,000 vert or so to give him a chance to catch up. I hate being in the rear because I get snow blown in my face from peoples twin-tips..

The only people I have to ski with on a regular basis are beginners so I am usually bringing up the rear, making sure noone yard sales, or up in front making snow angels while I wait :(

in front...unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes. Actually its more a matter of turn shape...I'm usually making bigger, higher speed turns while others in the posse like the thigh burners. I'll jump into the congo line every once and a while...just to mix it up and make some short turns.

I try not to ski in groups of more than 3 or 4 people when freeskiing.

And I'm usually in the front, mostly because the people I ski with are indecisive stoners who can't pick a trail without talking about it for 3 minutes.

Getting stoned? Or talking about what trail to take?

DISCLAIMER: I in no way condone the smoking of various harmless plants for medicinal purposes or otherwise. I furthermore state that I would never engage in such activities representing any ski area, in any location . . .
