This weekend will be my first time out this season. I am really up in the air on where to go.

Hunter & Belleayre are still pretty limited in the amount of terrain open so far this season.

Are any of the Berkshire mountains any better?

Is it worth the drive up to the Adirondacks or Vermont for a daytrip?

I'm in the same boat. Looks to me like Windham and Jiminy Peak are the local standouts. But I'm playing with the idea of just blasting up to Whiteface or Okemo for an overnight.

None of this is reality checked; all based on websites and weather forecasts.

Same here. Stratton looks good by those standards, and I have free tickets for there.

Good choice. If paying real dollars I'd choose Okemo any day and but Stratton certainly pumps and grooms a lot too and going offpeak you'll have space to enjoy it.

We are going with Windham. $46 lift tickets tomorrow. I have never been there, so it should be fun.
Its not where but when you should start. I think by Dec 28 it should start to get a lot better. As for those brand new skis and boards, well I would wait a few more weeks before I bring those out. Psssst hey buddy can you pass the PTEX. :spin:

Seriously Windham seem to have a good amount of Blue trails open.

hunter has the most snow in the area.. when it was cold for a few nights they were really able to blow alot... jiminy was great up untill 2 days ago when they got like an inch of rain and it just killed it.. but i would still recommend hunter, witht the best snow making on the east you get get like 3 different runs.. now for what the snow is gonna be-- welt i have been 6 times this season between jiminy and hunter, and the snow has been completely different each time. Vermont is struggling just as much. i would wait another 2 weeks or at least a snow storm before i took the time to take the long drive. The mountains up there dont really have the best snowmaking becuase they are generally gettin natural. save the gas and your free ticket till mid january, and then really get your money's worth up in VT

Check Whiteface. They have a lot of runs, and they are pretty huge. I skied 1 run when they first opened and it kept me busy all day. It's a BIG mountain.

The quad is very nice, but they need to grade the approach so you are not poling up on to the lift platform. The new "Name this trail" trail was the only trail open on that peak. It was our first run and it was already a mess at 9:30 AM. After a couple of nice twists off the lift you enter tight wooded lane as the pitch increases. ThIs was the point where the snow became mocha colored with lots of fist sized rocks sprinkled in, and coverage was only two thirds of the trail. This continued down a, relatively steep for a blue, 100 yards, where the snow resumed it's white, stone free appearance. The rest of the trail was great fun, with twists, and banks and the best snow of the day at the resort. I think once conditions improve, it will be one of the better trails on the mountain. The other trails were spring skiing, with bare patches. Overall I liked Windham, but will wait until winter arrives before I return, so I can fully enjoy the mountain.
