Ok, so me and the contractor I worked with got into a pretty heated debate today, which is harder to coach/manage; football or baseball?

Honestly I think baseball. Anyone who has followed the red sox in previous years has witnessed the manager get eat alive after pretty much every game, even if they won.

Plus there are more coaches in football, making it easier on the head coach

I think football is harder to coach. To me baseball is still, at it's core about the pitcher throwing well. Any manager mistakes can't be exploited if the pitcher is throwing strikes and getting ground balls.
In football I feel that the coaching aspect is more important as the games (at least in the NFL) are all about schemes and match-ups and sometimes no matter how good your athletes are if you blitz on the left and they run right you are in trouble.

OK this is off the subject but;

I Had the pleasure in attending my nephews soccer game today, which is basically ten kids, sometimes 9 sometimes 11 on the field with six-eight running after, or watching, or not watching (as in my nephews case) the two kids on either team who have an idea of what to do in a soccer game.

My nephew was out there, holding hands with a girl on his team as the two of them ran up and down the field, threw leafs at each other, and occasioanlly watched a ball scuttle past their feet. There were times he was watching the clouds, or watching the game on the field near theirs, and then there were times he sucked his thumb while watching others kick the ball. I think he kicked itonce or twice intentionally.

Thank god he can ride a snowboard straight down a small hill, this year we try to teach turning.

Football is MUCH harder, IMHO. Baseball players just go out and do their thing - it's much more of an individualist/specialist sport. Either a baseball player makes the play or throws strikes or gets a hit or he doesn't. In football, you have to get all 11 guys on the same page. A football play is much more difficult to design, teach and execute than almost anything in baseball. And there are so many different plays for so many different situations. It's not even close in my opinion.....

My 2 cents.....
