My plug is for Mount Snow. They continued to make snow the latest of any of the Vt. resorts and did a fantastic job early in the season under challenging conditions.

I'd give my home mountain (Snow) a good plug on this but they closed with plenty of snow left.. so it would go to other resorts in my opinion...

I second this. When everyone else was suffering in December, SR had everyone lapped by leaps and bounds with the quality of their snow.

i liked the river a lot this year. i really can't say who has done the best and i think it's impossible to really know, but when things were not so good the river simply amazed me. i skied around vt. n.h. and maine in december and was impressed with their ability to offer quality skiing. i will probably always have a pass there because it really is consistent.

btw- after valentines the skiing was good everywhere. more snow in vermont probably, but maine and wildcat seem to be getting it late.

I am nothing short of amazed at what Sunday River has done this year. Regardless of who owns the mountain, the staff has done a terrific job all season. They've always battled back from difficult weather and provided the best possible snow surface no matter what mother nature has thrown at them. However, I have been most impressed at how the employees have carried themselves this year amidst what has to be a very trying time. With the sales of ASC resorts and the constant talk of who will own SR next year, these people have worked hard every day and done so with a smile. Whereas I've heard that hasn't quite been the case at other ASC resorts, for some reason, these people seem to truly enjoy their jobs and show it on a daily basis.

My hat's off to you! :flag:

Post of the day Jerry. I definately agree with you. They went above and beyond this year to provide quality skiing from beginning to end! Great job everyone!

In my mind, northern New England
Sunday River.

It had pretty good coverage in December - January when the conditions were tough and is still open with tons of snow. Never thought much of the place before this season but we just kept coming back to the mountain weekend after weekend this year. Good service too. Everybody from the lifties to the servers seemed to know what they were doing (and seemed to know all about the trail conditions if you asked them).

My best year ever at Stowe. Almost 400 inches. Several big dumps. Skiied new lines. Had a tele break thru and telemarked all of my favorite runs. Skiied a bunch off the summit. Skiied alot of Back country and had great snow down low (below 2500 vert) for alot of the "back yard" lines I've been eyeing up since 2000, 2001.

Killington's still open, nuff said.

both da bush and maybe wildcat are planinng to reopen this weekend, so not sure that k deserves much in the way of kudos especially given that they'll be closing with enough snow to stay open at least another week or two after that. also with all the nat snow this year, if they had blown anywhere near the normal amount on supe they could be open into june. so no kudos there. btw, if da bush reopens this weekend, since they opened before k, they will have had the longest season in vermont.

i might give k props however for running lifts & keeping the bear & needles areas open for 2 additional weekends but in reality those decisions were no-brainers.

having said that, perhaps k will pleasantly surprise us and reopen for mom's day weekend. i think if the forecast is good they might do it. then we can strike up the band ...

  • da bush and wildcat are not open during the week
  • I think too many people have been spoiled by Killington's June skiing, which other resorts have done this?
  • Although they may not have been first to open, I think K did an excellent job blowing snow during the first half of the season.
  • Once they got started, they constantly had the most open terrain. May have been an exception here or there, but for the most part, they had the most terrain throughout the season.
  • I wouldn't count on K being open after this weekend. They have made it very clear in a number of different venues that this weekend is there last. But hey, we can dream and hope :-D

probably sound business on bush's & cat's part. who's gonna be pissed if k closed during the week, the g's & ozzy ... ;-) i think it's something they should consider for late season (may) skiing in the future, maybe opening friday-sunday.

I think too many people have been spoiled by Killington's June skiing, which other resorts have done this?
exactly the point, they're staying as late as 2 other areas yet closing nearly a month earlier than they used to (with snow on the ground no less). if you're saying get used to early closings, i'm trying ... but when they only stay open as late as 2 other ski areas i'm not throwing them a parade.

Although they may not have been first to open, I think K did an excellent job blowing snow during the first half of the season.
essentially all they did was paint those trails white with the minimal amount of snowmaking while making copius amounts for events and terrain parks that did not benefit the general skiing public. i can count at least 5 snowmaking trails they didn't blow on because of their snowmaking policy. if mama nature didn't bail their asses out (and everyone else's as well) we'd be closed already.

Once they got started, they constantly had the most open terrain. May have been an exception here or there, but for the most part, they had the most terrain throughout the season.
don't they have the most? many others were 100% open which i guess is the best they can do.

I wouldn't count on K being open after this weekend. They have made it very clear in a number of different venues that this weekend is there last. But hey, we can dream and hope :-D
you're right, ain't gonna happen but we can dream ... :)
