So my kids gave me Wii Ski for Father's day. Not as good as skiing, quite a bit warmer, but it will entertain me for a few days. Greg, have you tried the moguls challenge yet?

We haven't picked up Wii ski yet. Eventually, probably, if for no other reason than to continue the brain washing of my 5 year old. ;)

While I can smoke them on mountain, they blow me away on Wii. The tree crashes aren't near as dramatic as I expected. I expected to die. But instead, it gets me back up and lets me finish, only losing 5 points for a tree crash.

It appears the game was written by a non-skier/boarder. On the slalom race, for example the "finish" line has a "Goal" banner above it. They also have some of their other terminology mixed up. I can't recall the other fubars, but I'll pick it to pieces in a few days and let you know.

worth getting Wii for it?

I wouldn't run out and buy the Wii hardware just for this game alone. I'm not a gamer, I lose interest after about a dozen hours at play, so I'm a really bad reviewer. I don't know what they paid for it,but for $25, it makes for amusement for a few weeks, after which time, you'd probably master it. we've only run it at Novice and Intermediate skill levels, so I don't know how much more there is. Apparently there is a balance board they recommend you get with it, but they didn't. The scoring is rather odd. there seems to be a "par" time, by which success is judged.

We mostly have the sports games for Wii. They are a lot of fun at first, and a lot of fun at a party - races, competitions, etcetera. The ski module seems at par with the rest of the sports modules.

Let's put it this way, a Warren Miller movie on wide screen trumps this big time.

Take part in a home run derby with whatever baseball game is on hand...after 10 pitches you're exhausted.

The designer doesn't quite grasp the sport's terminology. I clicked on "Freestyle", fully expecting to be able to do some jumps, rails, and so on. It's actually "free skiing", which is rather dull. I couldn't find a real freestyle course. Now that would be fun. Version 2.0 I suspect....
