Who else is going to be "sick" on Wednesday and riding in the Catskills?

No Catskill virgins for me, change of plans, Virgil virgins, Greek Peak. Calling for a foot, can't wait.

After taking off yesterday (Monday 2/3) due to the 7" we got, there was no way around having to work Wed. I'm always off Thursday and Friday so I've lucked out.

My game plan is to hit the road around 5 am Thursday to beat the rush hour through Jersey. I thought about heading up Wed night but don't want to make the trip on 23A thru 15" of snow at night. Better safe than sorry.

I have a room reserved overnight. Skiing Thursday and Friday and then heading to New Paltz to crash overnight at the hostel there and will snowshoe in the Gunks on Saturday.

Then I get to come home and wait to see what happens with the Sunday-Monday storm. One week at a time..

Woke up, looked outside, and immediately started kicking myself for not heading up today. Tomorrow for sure. I'd love to take Scotty's advice and head to Platty, but I have to drop my parents off at the airport before leaving and that won't leave me with enough time to make the drive. So I think it's going to Mountain Snow or maybe Magic.

Just gotta say my drive to work today put a shit-eating grin on my face. I had the roads to myself, many of them unplowed. If you've never driven a WRX in the snow, you owe it to yourself. Beautifully controlled four wheel drifts around every corner and then some tight donuts in an empty lot at work before I went in to work, just for good measure. I'm seriously loving life right now.

Ha, I picked up Rambo, his street was unplowed, blasted right through with my WRX, quite worn Blizzaks, I feel alot better about my trip to ME, was a little worried I hadn't snagged a new set of shoes, I'll be fine. Much more fun with the stupid traction control off.

A little disappointed Greek didn't get as much as Binghamton, maybe 4-6", skis great nonetheless.

I skinned up MRG this morning but it was like 2"........ I took tomorrow off. I think tomorrow will be better than today. I hope it's not too crowded.

I do feel guilty, but this is a 1-2 x a year thing for me .

I see it's going to snow another few inches Sunday night but I can't wait forever.

I feel that same guilt. I think I'm just going to ski Sunday since I already had to take a personal day next Monday. I keep trying to convince myself to call out though.

Are you talking about the Gunks? After 2 days at Hunter I have plans to down there for snowshoeing. Want to enjoy this snow all I can.

I hope it's a lot more powdery than the slushy, sloppy mess we have down here. After tonight it will just be ice. Typical Jersey Shore crap.

Can't wait to head north tomorrow and enjoy REAL winter and :snow:

I never feel guilty taking a day off. This is what I do and I have to do it when the weather is just right. That's what vacation days are for. It's called work/life balance. I'm there when they need me and will bust my hump for them. But when it snows, I'm gone. Seems fair to me.

Yea I agree completely. My boss wouldn't even care it's just my own feeling. I may just say f!ck it and go. I know I won't regret it.

Mohonk..or Minnewaska is where I'm going snowshoeing on Saturday. I hike there a lot. You are lucky to live so close! I love that area.

Enjoy Platty. Should be awesome! :thumbup
