100% self motivated, self taught. Didn't start skiing until college, because my parents didn't ski, and told me it was too expensive.

Of the very, very few complaints I have about my childhood, it's that my parents only really made available the 'usual' recreations (i.e. baseball, basketball) i.e., all the activities at which I'm terrible. I had no guidance when those individual activities I learned that I really loved, cycling and skiing, became more available to me. No one in my family shares any of my hobbies, with the exception of woodcutting, lol.

speaking of woodcutting. can i hire you for a day? ;-) i have a ton of standing BTUs and no desire to pay a tree guy to drop them.

If there's no powerline, house or car interference, I'd be glad to murder your trees for you.

Hmm, what do you charge I got a bunch of maples I want to clear out of by back yard that are crowding out some nicer trees?

Beer after skiing at Wachusett would probably work. You'd have to figure out what to do with the wood, though.

It drops off into swamp, so some gets kept for firewood and the junk returns to the earth ... Grassi can have some too.

I didn't know anyone who skied. Took ski lessons as a college athletic requirement. Phil and Steve Mahre became my role models. I was fixed to the olympic ski coverage on TV. The Billy Kidd book "Ski in 6 Days" was read and re-read every day in between. It was absolutely the only sport that came easy for me.

Sounds good to me. Remind me again in a few weeks when things are cooler and drier... or whenever works for you.

That works. I'll ping you later. Thanks.

TR IS EXPECTED!!!:smash:

Let's see. Marc in his lumberjack cycling jersey rides to wa-loafs (with a mandatory summitting of Wachusett for photo stoke of Marc's bike with a chain-saw attached to it up there;) ) Marc then cuts trees down while wa-loaf watches and then Grassi, with his a$$ donut attached shows up, and suddenly the TR is just of 3 guys drinking beer intermixed with random chainsaw, bike and a$$ donut pics! ;)  ;)

Nailed it! Heck, if it became a video TR, you could do the play-by-play!

This happens in my school group all the time.
I head up a ski program for a small country school, and have negotiated with the local hill to let the parents of paid students ski free.
The parents who take them up on this offer are hooked for life!!!

The resort is smart because they create a "family" of skiers :)
