Wildcat will be great the next 3 days, but you will have to dress warm.
I was with beginners today and they didn't have any trouble on mid and lower Polecat because the snow was perfect.
I would have prefered to go on all that were opened (31/47) because they looked so good.
Be brave.

Sat/Sun, not Fri.....and let's welcome these negative digits after what we've been through. I can take it.

Temperature conversion

Of course, you all know the New England Temperature Conversion chart, right? For any newbies, I'll repeat it one last time. I believe it's time for some Girl Scout cookies...

60° F: Southern Californians shiver uncontrollably. People in New England sunbathe.
50° F: New Yorkers try to turn on the heat. People in New England plant gardens.
40° F: Italian & English cars won't start. People in New England drive with the windows down.
32° F: Distilled water freezes. Maine's Moosehead Lake's water gets thicker.
20° F: Floridians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats. People in New England throw on a flannel shirt.
15° F: New York landlords finally turn up the heat. People in New England have the last cookout before it gets cold.
0° F: All the people in Miami die. New Englanders close the windows.
10° below zero: Californians fly away to Mexico. The Girl Scouts in New England are selling cookies door to door.
25° below zero: Hollywood disintegrates. People in New England get out their winter coats.
40° below zero: Washington DC runs out of hot air. People in New England let the dogs sleep indoors.
100° below zero: Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. New Englanders get frustrated because they can't start their "kahs."
460° below zero: All atomic motion stops (absolute zero on the Kelvin scale).
People in New England start saying, "cold 'nuff for ya?"
500° below zero: Hell freezes over. The Red Sox win the World Series.

The forecast we use for Mountain Operations show really cold temperatures today and into the night but starting to warm after midnight. By the opening of the lifts on Saturday we expect low positive single digit temperatures at both the base and the summit. For both Saturday and Sunday we expect mid teen temperatures at the summits and high teen to low twenty temperatures at the base. There are no heavy winds forecasted. So given the snow conditions and our 100% open terrain here at Sugarbush it should be a good weekend to get out on the slopes.

Last night, tonight, Saturday and Sunday

Trained at Catamount last night from 6:20 - 9 pm. We took a short break for about 20 minutes. Conditions were great. Lots of short turns and very little standing around/talking. Five degrees and windy by closing time.

That new chair is gonna be a hit when they get it running.

Teaching at Jiminy tonight from 6 - 9 pm and on Sat till 4:30.

Family trip to Pico on Sunday unless they continue to misbehave.

I used to love to go out in this stuff. Now, I feel it more and act more carefully.

Dress for it - use hand/foot warmers on major circulation points. Keep moving. Enjoy. Repeat.

Wahoo baby!!!

My bad.

It just wasn't running last night.

Chairs felt pretty slow by 8:30.

It was my first time there. Nice place.

Attitash Founders day!

Empty, almost totally empty there today, some racing was going on, but I would bet that they didn't even meet the 400 passes for 7.50.
I'll post a trip report when I thaw out. More pics. Ungroomed whales, beautiful conditions overall.
