yup!

this got me thinking about '89 in jh when i got into a heated argument w/ a snowboarder about skiers in a half pipe. i used to poach half pipes and sometimes get yelled at by snowboarders as it was an exclusive part of the hill for snowboarders back then. jh didn't even have one unless you count dicks. anyway, this kid went off about how skiers don't belong, blah, blah, blah. funny how times change!

With a name like knuckledragger how can I not say something. This was my 11th year since I have came over to the dark side. Been instructing for 5 years. When I was sking I at best a reckless intermediate after 16 years. I think it was 3 years and I was hiking the chin with some freinds from that b word company.

I know a few people that were decent intermediate skiers and made the switch to riding.. And within a year or two were riding great down the steep terrain and are now far better snowboarders then they were skier. In the sense that they were more confident and solid on expert terrain.

But then again - I know another guy that was a great snowboarder and switched to skiing and kicks ass as a skier...

Nope just one of my favorite places... Been a few times...
Learned to snowboard there a couple years before - crap boards/bindings - sorrel boots with ski liners...

I've always been of the notion that who cares who goes in the pipe.. A mountain should be open for all to use whereever they want to go...

I agree. I kinda like to go in the pipe once in a while, especially when it's soft and grippy. I can go up and down ok, but I'm afraid to try to get out. I'll only go in when there's not a line of kids waiting. With all the young guns watching, and being 52, I feel out of place.

yup, me too...sorels and ski boot bladders was the way. honestly, that is the only way ive snowboarded! obviously, its been awhile since ive been on one. once i switched to tele's i committed for a long time and now im back to alpine. im sure i'll be back on a board w/in a couple yrs when/if my kids make the switch.

89-90 was my first season in jh and i think it was the yr koch left jh (resort). he was still somewhat local riding bc stuff. kinda funny, but a lot of people didn't respect him back then...thought he was a little reckless. he proved them wrong!
