Why do we hate Killington again?

Killington personifies all that is wrong with eastern skiing. It's crowded, confusing, and too often the primary runs are skied off by 10AM. However, there is an energy to the place that I don't find anywhere else. Yet, even at its busiest, it is always possible to find an isolated area or run. On bad weather days, because of the different exposures and micro-climates, there is always a place to get out of the wind or weather. Early spring bumps on OL with its warming eastern exposure, and later in the season on Superstar, how can you hate that? Apres? Every other resort is vying for second place. Yeah, it's hip to "hate" Killington, but I know people that have skied there 30 years that are still finding new stashes. It's that kind of place.

What ski resort in Vermont isn't filled with jerks from New York, heck what ski resort in Maine or NH isn't filled with Massholes, what ski resort in New England isn't filled with local assholes? I am a northern New Englander, raised in Maine, attended college (worked as a lifty at Waterville Valley) and currently live in NH, and have had a seasons pass at Killington for the past 6 years. I can honestly say I have never had an issue with jerks from New York....actually haven't had a problem with anybody at Killington. Have I witnessed some classic pushing matches or who can swear the loudest competitions at Killington? Yup. I have also seen the same thing at Big Squaw back in the late 90's, of which 99% of the skiers were from Greenville and surrounding communities. Much like the "crowded" moniker given to Killington, the asshole factor is greatly overstated.

The only time I have a problem with people from other states in on the drive there or back. If you fear driving in snow, or fear going the speed limit, pull the f*ck over and let people pass!

Can you remind the DPW to do this? I got caught behind a plow caravan all the way through Franconia Notch yesterday. They were staggered too tightly to let anyone pass.

That's the same everywhere in the Northeast though. At least with the drive to Killington (from NY/NJ), you've got plenty of 2-lane sections + passing zones, far better than the miles of backcountry roads you have to take to access many other ski areas.
